Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is very serious about law and order, NCRB data also says that the law and order of Punjab is much better than the neighboring states – Neel Garg
Chandigarh, July 12
Reacting to the statement of Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar, senior leader and spokesperson of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Neel Garg said that he (Jakhar) is trying to mislead people on the issue of law and order. In fact, drugs, gangsters and mafia dominated Punjab during the Akali-BJP government from 2007 to 2017. The same people are still part of this nexus.
Neel Garg said that Sunil Jakhar only sheds crocodile tears on every issue related to Punjab. During the 2017 assembly elections, Captain Amarinder Singh, with Congress leaders, had taken an oath on Gutka Sahib that we will eliminate drugs from Punjab in four weeks and Jakhar was the head of the party during the Captain government, but did not speak against drug abuse even once.
He said that unlike the Akali BJP and Congress government, the Mann government is working seriously to eliminate drug gangsters and mafia from Punjab. So far, the government has arrested more than 32 thousand drug smugglers and registered 25 thousand cases. NCRB data also says that the law and order situation in Punjab is much better than neighboring states. This is because Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is very serious about law and order.
Neel Garg said that Jakhar talks about farmers, but does not raise his voice for the farmers before the central government. He said that calling oneself a farmer-friendly does not make one a well-wisher, one has to work for it. If Sunil Jakhar is really farmer-friendly then he should raise the issues of agriculture and farmers of Punjab in front of Prime Minister Modi and appeal to solve the problems of the farmers.
He said that before becoming the Prime Minister in 2013, Narendra Modi himself had said that we will waive the entire debt of the farmers and make a law on MSP as per the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission, but later Modi went back on his promise and betrayed the farmers of the country. He did not fulfill even a single promise related to the farmers, on the contrary, he tried to impose anti-farmers agricultural laws on them to hand over the land and crops to his corporate friends, due to which more than 750 farmers died. Till date PM Modi has not even expressed grief over these deaths.
He said that the BJP may do anything but it is not going to achieve anything in Punjab. People here are well aware of the nature of the BJP. People know that BJP is an anti-farmer and pro-capitalist party. It has never done anything for the welfare of farmers. That is why BJP has been wiped out from Punjab.
