96th Sacrifice Day of Lala Lajpat Rai Celebrated in Dhudike

Sacrifice Day of Lala Lajpat Rai  : The 96th Sacrifice Day, celebrating the beloved freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai, lovingly known as Punjab Kesari, took place today in his hometown of Dhudike village, filled with love and gratitude. The gathering was graced by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema as our chief guest, along with MLA Nihal Singh Wala and the esteemed Manjit Singh Bilaspur.

In a touching speech, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema shared his thoughts on the remarkable influence of Punjab Kesari Lala Lajpat Rai in India’s struggle for independence. He conveyed that every Indian carries a deep sense of pride for the sacrifices and courage shown by Lala Lajpat Rai and the other courageous freedom fighters, whose unwavering spirit has gifted us the happiness of living in a free country. He highlighted that Lala Lajpat Rai was not only a distinguished freedom fighter but also a devoted leader in the Swadeshi movement.

Answering the requests of the local residents and the panchayat, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema declared the allocation of rs 25 lakh for various developmental projects in the village. This includes Rs 10 lakh for a gym to be built alongside four new parks, Rs 10 lakh for the Lala Lajpat Rai Birthplace Memorial Committee, and Rs 5 lakh dedicated to the Desh Bhagat Sports Club. In a wonderful move, the minister happily accepted the villagers’ heartfelt request to set up a waste management treatment facility in their beloved community without delay.

Manjit Singh Bilaspur, MLA of Nihal Singh Wala, took a moment to acknowledge the rich history of Dhudike village, the birthplace of the revered Lala Lajpat Rai and numerous other brave freedom fighters.
He shared in such a beautiful way that we must always cherish the legacy of those incredible individuals who fought for our freedom; their journey continues to light a fire in our young hearts, encouraging them to embrace a love for our country.

The occasion felt even more wonderful with the presence of the esteemed former Minister, Mrs. Malti Thapar, alongside Mr. Ranjit Singh Dhanna, the Vice Chairman of the Lala Lajpat Rai Janamasthan Yadgar Committee, Secretary Rajjung Singh, and a warm gathering of both current and former Sarpanches, passionate students, and many dear guests.

Tributes to Lala Lajpat Rai on 96th Sacrifice Day in Dhudike

Earlier, Finance Minister Mr. Harpal Singh Cheema, MLA Nihal Singh Wala, and Mr. Manjit Singh Bilaspur, along with other participants, paid their heartfelt respects to Lala Lajpat Rai by laying floral garlands at his statue while recalling his immense sacrifices. Furthermore, they toured the library as well as other significant historical sites in the village, and subsequently, they laid floral wreaths at the memorial for other martyrs from the village. Meanwhile, local school students added to the event’s solemnity by presenting heartfelt songs and captivating group performances, which further enriched the emotional atmosphere. Moreover, during the ceremony, the Lala Lajpat Rai Janamasthan Yadgar Committee took the opportunity to honor distinguished individuals, adding a meaningful conclusion to the occasion.
