Punjab Road Sangharsh  Committee farmers  raised voice for low compensation
Sukhdev Singh Dhillon, President of the Punjab Road Sangharsh Samiti, an agitated farmers’ organization of Punjab, along with Harmanpreet Dikki, State Coordinator of Samiti, and presidents of all the districts of Punjab,  held a press conference at Chandigarh Press Club to raise their voice against meagre compensation govt is planning.
Dikki said that compensation amount of around Rs 1.5 crore per acre was given 4 years ago, but sadly now, according to the latest award available, the state government is awarding  only Rs 20 to 25 lakhs per acre ; which is not at all accepted.
“With this, the matter of providing  service lanes and underpasses on every existing route has been accepted verbally by the committee set up by the Punjab government on this matter, but they are afraid that it will not remain just an assurance,” said Dikki.
Along with this, there are many disputes about the property distribution in the form of ancestral land or shareholding, many times these issues should also be resolved before payment.
Along with this, thousands of farmers will be unemployed due to this highway because their land will be snatched and if they are unable to buy land, then there should be a provision of government job for them. In the same way, if the farmers of the banks are running with debt, then the loans of the banks should be returned by making one time settlement before paying their land.
“Trees will be cut in millions  and in the coming time, noise pollution will increase, in view of all this, there should be some provision for environmental protection as well. It is worth noting that the Punjab Road Sangharsh Committee first met Capt Amarinder Singh’s OSD MP Singh in January 2021, after that meeting, a committee was formed on the orders of Captain Amarinder Singh, whose chairman is Vijay Inder Singla and Vishwajeet Khanna and other IAS officers are also part of this committee. This committee is looking into this matter, after this, when the next meeting of the Punjab Road Sangharsh Samiti was held, the advisor of NHAI was also present, but the organization fears that this committee will be issuing awards  without taking them into confidence. Our appeal to CM is Kindly  do not decide them unilaterally and do take us in confidence beforehand,” added Dikki.
He further said, “therwise we will be forced to bring Sangrur dharna at  Captain Amrinder’s residence.”
Coordinator of five states Ramesh Dalal was also present on this occasion, it is worth mentioning that the Dalal has also been sitting on a dharna near Nalothi, Tikri Border for the last four months and fighting for the rights of the suffering farmers of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi and Gujarat
