Rs.214.16 crore released under Post-Matric Scholarship and Shagun Scheme: Dr. Baljit Kaur

 Chandigarh, March 29:

Fulfilling the assurance of AAP government , Punjab Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, on Tuesday, released Rs.214.16 crore under Post-Matric Scholarship and Shagun Scheme.

Disclosing this, the Cabinet Minister said, “Clearing the pendency up till March 2022, Rs.184 crore have been released under Post-matric Scholarship, while Rs.30.16 crore released under Shagun scheme up to December 2021 as I had promised to clear the pendency while taking the charge of the department.”

The Cabinet Minister informed that Ambedkar Bhawans to be constructed in every district. She directed the officials to take expertise of other goverment institutions in cost effective measure for the construction of these Bhawans. Emphasizing for the need of maintenance of existing Ambedkar Bhawans, Dr. Baljit Kaur said, some old buildings needed immediate maintenance and AAP government under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Mann committed to construct and maintain Ambedkar Bhawans.

Reviewing various welfare schemes, the Cabinet Minister assured that additional funds to be allocated for all the welfare schemes. Talking about the central funded schemes, she added that she will take up the matter with concerned departments of the Union Government for the early release of funds so that our vulnerable sections doesn’t face any hardships.

Dr. Kaur further added that benefits of various loan schemes of Backfinco such as Direct Loan Scheme, NBCFDC, Education Loan Scheme, Micro Finance Scheme, Mahila Samridhi Yojana and other schemes to be ensured to the public.

Among others who were present during the meeting included Principal Secretary Social Justice & Empowerment and Minorities G.Ramesh Ganta, Executive Director SC and BC Corporations Mr. Malwinder Singh Jaggi, Director SJEM and Sub Plan Raj Bahadur Singh.
