Case of 328 Missing Sacred Swaroops: Silence of the Current SGPC Leaders Is Testimony of ‘Guilt’: Kultar Singh Sandhwan
Chandigarh, 07 January, 2026 : Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, while cornering the leadership the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) over the sensitive issue of the disappearance of 328 sacred swaroops, said that on one hand the SGPC claims that the Ishar Singh Committee and the Internal Committee had clearly recommended strict action against the guilty, but the biggest question is why those recommendations have not been implemented till date. Should it be assumed that the failure to take action itself was a political conspiracy to provide a safe passage to the culprits?
Sandhwan Slams SGPC Silence
Launching a sharp attack, Sandhwan asked whether the accused were so influential or belonged to their own inner circle that instead of punishing them, Panthic maryada was sacrificed. He said it appears that political interests were placed above the sentiments and maryada of the Sikh community. If everything was clear in the reports, then under what compulsion was the truth deliberately hidden from the Sangat? This silence is directly equivalent to shielding the guilty.
He further said that if the reports of the inquiry committees were correct, then not acting upon them is a grave Panthic crime. The current SGPC leadership is directly responsible for this. If those reports were incorrect, why has the Sikh world been kept deprived of the real truth? Why has this continued till today? This double policy of the current SGPC leadership has severely damaged the credibility of the institution. They will have to provide answers to the Sangat.
Sandhwan made it clear. The Sikh sangat has every right to know which forces created obstacles in the path of justice. He warned that those who remained silent will be written as guilty in the history. Providing shelter to those guilty of sacrilege is meaningless. Neglecting the sacred swaroops will not absolve them of this guilt.
