
Punjab Government Launches PMU for Unified Online Services Portal to Enhance Citizen-Centric Governance
Chandigarh, April 25, 2024: The Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has made a significant move. They aim to guarantee transparent and efficient delivery of citizen-centric services. They have announced the establishment of a Project Management Unit (PMU). This initiative aims to integrate all government department services into a unified online portal, enabling citizens to access services seamlessly from anywhere, anytime.
Aman Arora, Punjab’s Minister of Good Governance and Information Technology, announced the decision during the 21st meeting of the Board of Governors (BoGs) of Punjab State e-Governance Society (PSeGS) at Punjab Bhawan.
Citizen : Key Highlights of the PMU Initiative:
1. Citizen-Centric Unified Online Portal for All Government Services
- The PMU will digitize all offline services, allowing citizens to apply and track their applications in real-time.
- Ensures greater accountability by monitoring service pendency at the Head Office level.
- Aims to integrate 846 services notified under the Punjab Transparency and Accountability in Public Service Delivery Act.
2. Expansion of Digital Services
- Currently, 436 services are available through 541 Sewa Kendras.
- 406 services are already accessible via “Bhagwant Mann Sarkar Tuhade Dwaar” helpline (1076), enabling doorstep delivery.
- The remaining services will be integrated into the online portal for single-point access.
3. Performance Audit of Sewa Kendras
- The BoG approved a comprehensive audit of all Sewa Kendras to assess efficiency, transparency, and service delivery.
- Strengthens citizen trust by ensuring timely and hassle-free services.
4. Zero-Tolerance Against Service Delays
- The Punjab Government has a strict stance against unnecessary delays in service delivery.
- Strict measures will be implemented to ensure services are provided within the stipulated time.
