CHANDIGARH, December 23: Punjab and UP Police : In a major breakthrough, Punjab Police collaborated with Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police. They conducted a joint operation against Pakistan-ISI’s sponsored Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) terror module. This operation led to a meeting with three module members. The module members attacked a Police establishment in Gurdaspur with a grenade. Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav mentioned this here on Monday.

Encounter occurred in the jurisdiction of Police Station Puranpur in Pilibhi

The encounter occurred in the jurisdiction of Police Station Puranpur in Pilibhit, UP. It involved the joint police teams of Pilibhit and Punjab. This happened after three module members opened fire at the police party. The development occurred in less than a week. This was after some unknown persons hurled a hand grenade at Bakshiwala Police Post. It is under the jurisdiction of Kalanaur Police Station in Gurdaspur. This incident happened on December 18, 2024. Pertinently, terrorist organisation KZF had used social media platform to claim the responsibility for this act of terror.

Punjab and UP Police : Three Operatives Linked to Pak-Based KZF

DGP Gaurav Yadav has identified three operatives. Varinder Singh, known as Ravi, is from Agwan in Kalanaur. Gurwinder Singh is from Bhaini Bania Mohalla in Kalanaur. Jashanpreet Singh, known as Partap Singh, is from Shur Khurd in Kalanaur. Police teams in UP have also recovered two AK-47 rifles and two 9MM Glock pistols from their possession, he added. He said that a preliminary investigation has revealed important details. This terror module is controlled by Pak-based Ranjeet Singh Nita. He is the chief of KZF. It is operated by Greece-based Jaswinder Singh Mannu. He is a native of village Agwan village in Kalanaur.

Notably, accused Varinder alias Ravi, who was leading the module, also belongs to Agwan village. Jagjeet Singh, based in the UK, further controlled and masterminded him. Singh is reported to be working in the British Army and using the assumed identity of Fateh Singh Baghi. Using this identity, he also claimed responsibility for the grenade attack, he added. The DGP termed this operation a classic example of inter-state cooperation. The police forces of UP and Punjab worked together. The Punjab Police instantly shared the information with the UP Police, and they launched a joint operation against the perpetrators.

Police Nab Fugitives After Shootout in Pilibhit

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Border Range Satinder Singh shared the operation details. He said that after reliable inputs, the suspects fled to UP. They took shelter somewhere in Pilibhit. Gurdaspur Police promptly informed the Pilibhit Police. They also moved police teams from Gurdaspur to Pilibhit to launch a joint operation. Police teams had successfully traced the accused persons. When confronted, they opened fire at the police teams. This prompted police parties to retaliate, he said. He added that during the exchange of fire, the trio of accused persons sustained bullet injuries. The team promptly took them to CHC Puranpur for urgent medical treatment.

SSP Gurdaspur: Ongoing Probe to Uncover Terror Module

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gurdaspur, Harish Dayama, stated that additional investigations are actively underway to gather further information. They aim to expose all connections and members of this terror module. More arrests and recoveries are likely in the coming days.

FIR No. 124: Multiple Charges Under BNS, Explosive Act, and UAPA

The police registered FIR No. 124 on 19/12/2024. Moreover, it falls under sections 109 and 324 (4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Additionally, Police Station Kalanaur registered it under section 4 (5) of the Explosive Act. Furthermore, the FIR includes sections 13, 16, and 17 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Additionally, it covers sections 18-B, 20, 35, and 40. Lastly, the case involves multiple charges under these sections.
