Chandigarh, February 17- The Bhagwant Mann Government has taken major action against corruption in the state. They removed and suspended the Deputy Commissioner of Sri Muktsar Sahib. This decision followed serious complaints of corruption.
Today, a spokesperson of the Punjab Government disclosed this. They emphasized the Mann Government’s ‘zero tolerance towards corruption’. The state government had recently issued detailed instructions. These instructions were sent to all the officers. As per the instructions, the Punjab government had directed that officers function in a responsive and accountable manner. The authorities will take feedback about each Deputy Commissioner, SSP, SDM, Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar, SP, DSP, and SHO. Input on other field officers and officials will come from the general public. The authorities will also take feedback from elected representatives like MPs and MLAs. They further directed that this feedback will automatically determine rewards and punishments for the officers.
Further, based on the said feedback the state government has taken action against Deputy Commissioner Sri Muktsar Sahib.The state government received serious complaints of corruption against the Deputy Commissioner and therefore conducted a thorough enquiry into the officer.Based on the preliminary enquiry the state government has suspended the Deputy Commissioner Sri Muktsar Sahib with immediate effect.
The authorities have removed the DC from his post and marked a Vigilance enquiry against him.This reflects the unwavering commitment of the Punjab government to ensure full transparency, accountability and integrity in public service delivery. Corrupt practices undermine public trust. They weaken institutions and hinder the state’s growth. Therefore, authorities are giving top priority to checking this menace.
