The module was operated by USA-based Harpreet Singh alias Happy Passian and notorious drug smuggler Sarwan Bhola. They were involved in lobbying hand-grenade on Gumtala Police Post in Amritsar. Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav stated here on Tuesday. He announced that police have arrested two members in connection with this case.
The police have identified those arrested. They are Bagga Singh of Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar in Sirsa, Haryana. They have also identified Puskaran Singh alias Sagar of Amarkot in Amritsar. Police teams have also recovered one hand grenade and two sophisticated pistols along with ammunition from their possession.

According to the information, individuals hurled a hand grenade at Gumtala Police Post. This event occurred in Amritsar Commissionerate on January 9 this year. Following the incident, terrorist organisation BKI had used social media platform to claim the responsibility for this terror act.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that investigations have revealed important details. Arrestee Bagga Singh is a relative of Sarwan Bhola. Sarwan Bhola is the brother of notorious smuggler Ranjit Singh alias Cheeta. Cheeta is currently lodged in Bathinda jail in the 532 kg heroin recovery case. Pertinently, accused Sarwan Singh is also wanted in the 532 kg heroin recovery case. He carries a Rs 2 lakh reward announced by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

DGP said that Accused Sarwan Bhola has been operating a drug smuggling network from the USA. He has handed over his relative, Bagga Singh, and his associate, Pushkaran, to Happy Passian and Harvinder Rinda. They are to carry out terror activities in the border state.
The DGP said that investigations are in progress in a scientific manner. They aim to establish forward and backward linkages in this case. They also intend to unveil the entire terror module.
Sharing operation details, AIG SSOC Amritsar Sukhminder Singh Mann said police teams launched an intelligence operation following the attack at Gumtala Police Post. They arrested Bagga Singh from Sirsa in Haryana. They also arrested Pushkaran Singh from the Amritsar area. This led to the recovery of explosives and weapons. Further efforts are being made to discover the previous crimes committed by the accused persons and arrest remaining members of this module, he added.
