Chandigarh, 17 February 2025: The verification process is becoming easier for Non Resident Indian(NRI) Punjabis. The Government of Punjab, under the visionary leadership of S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, Chief Minister of Punjab, has operationalised the E-Sanad portal. This was done in September 2024 across Punjab. NRI Punjabis can use this portal to apply for countersigning their documents from their homes.The portal has received 6,481 applications for countersigning from January 1, 2025, to date.
200 NRI Applications Sent to MEA Daily
Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, the Minister of Administrative Reforms and NRI Affairs Department, said that the Government of India manages the daily submission of 200 applications from NRIs to the Ministry of External Affairs. It becomes very easy to track and find the status of applications through this portal. This results in reducing the wastage of precious time of NRIs.
E-Sanad portal facilitates NRI Punjabis to obtain various documents
He further informed that E-Sanad portal facilitates NRI Punjabis to obtain various documents. These include birth certificate, unavailability of birth certificate, late birth entry, and police clearance. Other documents are medical certificate, educational qualification certificate, and driving license. It also provides death certificate, marriage/divorce certificate, and decree. Additionally, adoption deed, affidavit, fingerprint, and other certificates are available.
