Chandigarh, March 9 The vibrant celebration of Hola-Mohalla at Sri Anandpur Sahib and Sri Kiratpur Sahib will occur from March 10 to March 15, 2025. To ensure the safety and well-being of the devotees, authorities have imposed a comprehensive ban. This ban prohibits the use of speakers on tractors and trucks during the festivities.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rupnagar, Gulneet Singh Khurana, announced this. He said that police administrations across all districts in Punjab have been informed. They need to issue instructions to Station House Officers (SHOs) and Traffic Incharges. These instructions will be passed on to representatives of truck unions and panchayats. The instructions will prohibit double-decker trucks or vehicles. It will also ban large speakers on tractor trolleys. Motorcycles with pressure horns will not be permitted to enter Sri Anandpur Sahib and Sri Kiratpur Sahib. Motorcycles without silencers will not be allowed either during the Hola-Mohalla celebrations.
Additionally, strict actions will be taken against those violating traffic rules and laws. Vehicles found causing noise pollution will have their speakers removed on the spot before being allowed to proceed further.
SSP Gulneet Khurana highlighted that the decision to ban loudspeakers was made to prevent inconvenience to the Sangat (devotees) arriving from various parts of the country and abroad. During the 2023 Hola-Mohalla celebrations, a tragic incident occurred where a Sikh youth lost his life due to a conflict caused by a tractor loudspeaker. This incident underscores the necessity for stringent measures to ensure the safety of all participants.
The SSP appealed to all Sangat to adhere to the instructions and traffic rules issued by the police administration, thereby preventing any untoward incidents during the celebration.
