Amb (Prashant Sharma): Pregnant women will now receive free ultrasound examinations every Friday at Civil Hospital Amb. The announcement was made by Chief Medical Officer Una, Dr. Sanjeev Verma, during the inauguration ceremony of a new ultrasound machine worth ₹19.5 lakh.
The machine was formally inaugurated by Chintpurni MLA Sudarshan Singh Bablu, who highlighted that residents of rural areas earlier had to travel to Una or Hoshiarpur for such tests, resulting in both financial burden and time loss. “Now, with this facility available locally and free of cost, rural families will greatly benefit,” he said.
The MLA further informed that to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, a new OPD building will soon be constructed at Civil Hospital Amb. The first installment of ₹3.36 crore for the project has already been released by the state government. Additionally, three new doctors will be appointed at the hospital in the near future.
BMO Dr. Rahul Katna stated that Civil Hospital Amb has featured four times in the top ten under the Kayakalp Project, securing the first and second positions once each. He added that the hospital staff remains fully committed to providing quality healthcare services to people in rural areas.
