Dr. Bharti Pravin Pawar, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Government of India visited PGIMER Chandigarh today. Hon’ble Minister was welcomed by Prof. Vivek Lal, Director PGIMER, Shri. Kumar Gaurav Dhawan, Deputy Director Admn., Prof. Naresh Panda, Dean (Academic), Prof. Vipin Koushal, Medical Superintendent and Shri Kumar Abhay, Financial Advisor.

The Hon’able Minister Chaired a meeting with the Departmental Heads and detailed presentation regarding the Institute was given to the Hon’ble Minister. The Hon’ble Minister appreciated the quantum of patient load handled by PGIMER.  She praised the good work done by PGI w.r.t. Ayushman Bharat Scheme.  She reviewed the Organ Transplant Programme of PGI and appreciated the work done by the Institute.

The Hon’ble Minister enquired about the OPD, Lab. sample collection timings and desired that the timings of the same should be increased for the benefit of the patients.  The Hon’ble Minister advised PGIMER to expedite the implementation of HIS.

Hon’ble Minister desired that efforts should be made to further reduce the waiting period for investigations for the benefit of patients.
The research activities and innovations being undertaken by the PGI faculty and other staff was appreciated by the Hon’ble Minister.  She advised that such quality research work need to be published in the reputed journals globally to show the world the kind of work being done in India.
The Hon’ble Minister was apprised of the facility of Poor Patient Welfare Fund at PGIMER.  The Minister appreciated this unique initiative of the Institute and asked to further strengthen the same.
The Hon’ble Minister reviewed progress of different Satellite Centres of PGIMER.  The Minister was apprised regarding the progress of Advanced Neuroscience Centre and Advanced Mother and Child Care Centre as well.
The Minister was informed about PGIMER’s decision to start MBBS course at the Institute.  The Minister appreciated this initiative and asked to expedite the same.  Regarding setting of new Critical Care Block under PM ABHIM, the Hon’ble Minister asked PGI to establish a Critical Care Block with the vision for the future.
After the meeting Dr. Bharti Pravin Pawar interacted with the media and briefed them about the progress and achievements of PGI. She mentioned about the various health beneficiaries schemes like PMJAY, NIF and CM Fund. Dr. Bharti Pawar praised PGI for providing financial assistant to more than 73000 patients under the PMJAY Scheme.
