Tajinder Toor, Harmilan Bains Secure Gold in Asian Indoor Athletics

Indian Women's Badminton Team Wins Asian Championship for First Time

Chandigarh, February 18  Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer has congratulated the athletes Tajinder Pal Singh Toor and Harmilan Bains who won Gold Medals in the Asian Indoor Athletics Championship and the Indian Women’s Badminton team who became champions in the Asian Championship for the first time.

          In the ongoing Asian Indoor Athletics Championship in Tehran (Iran), Punjab’s Athlete Tajinder Pal Singh Toor won the shot put event and Harmilan Bains won Gold Medal in 1500 Mtr. Tajinder Toor also created a new National record by throwing the shot 19.72 Mtr. In his illustrious sporting career, Toor has previously won gold medals twice in the Asian Games and three times in the Asian Championships. Harmilan, who won gold in the 1500m with a time of 4.29.55, won two silver medals in the Asian Games last year.

          Meanwhile, in the Badminton Asian Team Championship in Malaysia, the Indian women’s badminton team won the gold medal by defeating Thailand 3-2 in the final. The Indian women’s team has won the Asian Championship for the first time. Tanvi Sharma from Punjab is a member of this team.
