SBI hands over 340 organ donation pledges to PGIMER
In sync with their mandate of corporate social responsibility, State Bank of India handed over 340 organ donation pledges by their employees to PGIMER during SBI’s week-long organ donation awareness drive launched to mark the observance of 3rd anniversary of SBI YONO.
Prof. A.K. Gupta, Medical Superintendent cum Head, Deptt. of Hospital Administration, PGIMER, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest received the pledge forms from Mr. Anukool Bhatnagar, CGM, SBI at an impressive function organized here at SBI, LHO, Sector-17, Chandigarh today.
Mr. Surender Rana, GM SBI and other senior functionaries were also present at the function which was marked by the presence of around 100 participants.
Addressing as Chief Guest to the audience maintaining proper social distance in view of COVID-19 pandemic, Prof A. K. Gupta complimented SBI for their commendable campaign on Organ Donation and said, “There cannot be a better way to engage with employees on the cause of Organ Donation than to make it a part of the celebrations. This helps in motivating people to come forward and pledge for the cause. The initiative taken by SBI to take forward this campaign is really a major step in this direction and will set an example for others to follow”
Endorsing the need for public awareness through his thought provoking address, Prof. Gupta, stated “As a country we have really lagged behind in putting in the confidence that the organs can be donated. So continuous and periodical sensitization on this altruistic cause of organ donation must be enhanced predominantly.””
Prof. Gupta emphasized that the solution to organ shortage and achievement of self-sufficiency in organ donation is possible only through systematic strengthening of the deceased donor programme.
Earlier, at the outset, Mr. Anukool Bhatnagar, CGM, SBI expressed his gratitude towards PGIMER for supporting their CSR endeavour. He assured of the Bank’s commitment to take forward the awareness campaign to different states and regional offices, thereby connecting and sensitizing a large base of employees.
The function also comprised yoga session and concluded with felicitation of the dignitaries.
