
The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, conferred the prestigious Rashtrapati Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger Award Certificates to 16 outstanding members of the Bharat Scouts and Guides
Chandigarh, July 24- The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, conferred the prestigious Rashtrapati Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger Award Certificates. She awarded 16 outstanding members of the Bharat Scouts and Guides. The event was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. These awards, presented for the years 2018 to 2021, recognised the exemplary service and dedication of one Scout, one Guide, one Rover, and one Ranger for each year.
President Droupadi Murmu Encourages Bharat Scouts and Guides
The President, Smt. Droupadi Murmu interacted with the award recipients and other members of the Bharat Scouts and Guides and expressed her pride in being part of the Pali, Rajasthan Jamboree inauguration in 2022, calling it a memorable and wonderful experience.
Smt. Droupadi Murmu highlighted that 50 percent of the participants were women and 50 percent men, emphasizing that gender equality is a matter of great pride. She encouraged the Bharat Scouts and Guides to expand their reach. Their goal is to achieve one crore members. The President said that the Bharat Scouts and Guides are playing a vital role in nation-building. With such dedicated youth, India will soon regain its pride — ‘Bharat ka Gaurav’. Earlier, a meeting was held with the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, in which President, Bharat Scouts and Guides, Dr. Anil Kumar Jain, Chief National Commissioner, IAS (Retd.), Dr. K. K. Khandelwal and International Commissioner (Guides), Smt. Rupinder Brar was also present.
“Rashtrapati Honours 16 Young Achievers of Bharat Scouts and Guides”
President, Bharat Scouts and Guides, Dr. Anil Kumar Jain, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the President for honouring the 16 young achievers. He also acknowledged the continued support of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. He informed that all these members lived the Scout/Guide promise. They walked the extra mile to serve others. They demonstrated that age is no barrier when the heart beats for the nation.
During the meeting, Chief National Commissioner, IAS (Retd.), Dr. K. K. Khandelwal presented a Plaque of Honour to the President and provided an overview of the Bharat Scouts and Guides. He highlighted the organisation’s aims and objectives. He also highlighted its significant contributions to national development. The organisation has promoted international harmony and youth empowerment since its inception in 1909. It merged in 1950 into a single organisation — The Bharat Scouts and Guides. He also informed the President about the centenary celebrations of the Movement started from 7th Nov, 2024. He expressed pride in the organisation. He stated that the Bharat Scouts and Guides is the only organisation in the world that explicitly upholds commitment in its prayer. This commitment is also upheld in its law and promise. It does so in its law and promise as well.
“This momentous occasion revived the Rashtrapati Award tradition, which the authorities originally instituted in 1961 and continued until 2015. During the ceremony, officials presented the Bharat Scouts and Guides awards for the aforementioned years. They will award the remaining certificates at an upcoming national event.”
Several dignitaries from the President’s House, BSG’s officers and others also remained present during the ceremony.
