Haryana has witnessed a significant reduction in incidents of crime against women, with a sharp decline of 19.6% in 2024. A total of 9,488 cases were registered, as compared to 11,814 cases in 2023
Chandigarh, March 7 – On the first day of the Budget sessionof the Haryana Vidhan Sabha which commenced here today, obituary resolutions were passed. The purpose was to pay rich tributes to those prominent personalities. They expired between the period from the end of the previous session and the beginning of this session.
CM Saini, Speaker and Hooda pay tributes
Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, who is also the Leader of the House, paid tributes and read out the obituary resolutions. These include Sh. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of India, Chaudhary Om Parkash Chautala, former Chief Minister of Haryana, Satpal Sangwan, former Minister of Haryana, Dr. Kirpa Ram Punia, former Minister of Haryana, Sh. Surinder Singh Aujla, Chaudhary Karam Singh, Sh. Hem Raj, all former Members of Haryana Legislative Assembly, and Sardar Baaj Singh, Freedom Fighter.
Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Harvinder Kalyan also read the obituary resolutions and paid tributes to the departed souls. Sh. Bhupinder Singh Hooda also read the obituary resolutions on behalf of his party. The House conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved families.
Haryana Vidhan Sabha : House mourns the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh
The House expressed sorrow on the sad demise of Padma Vibhushan Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of India, who passed away on December 26, 2024. Dr. Manmohan Singh played a vital role in developing Economic Liberalization Policy during decade of 1990s, which had a significant impact on the economy of India. During his long, illustrious and highly distinguished parliamentary career, he served as the Chairperson of the Committee on Commerce and also as member of Committee on Finance, Rules Committee, Committee of Privileges and General Purposes Committee.
He is recognized worldwide as a distinguished scholar in the field of economics and public policy. Manmohan singh also held several significant positions, including Governor of the Reserve Bank of India and Deputy Chairperson of the Planning Commission. He received several prestigious awards, including the Padma Vibhushan in 1987 and the ‘Euro Money Award’ for Best Finance Minister in 1993. People will always fondly remember him for his duty-bound nature, innate simplicity, and humanity, alongside his reputation as a renowned economist.
House Mourns the Demise of Former Haryana CM Om Parkash Chautala
The House also expressed deep sense of sorrow on the sad demise of Chaudhary Om Parkash Chautala, former Chief Minister of Haryana, on December 20, 2024.
Ch. Om Parkash Chautala was born on January 1, 1935. Being brought up and educated in a rural atmosphere, he had closely seen and felt the problems of rural Haryana. The long and illustrious legislative career of Chaudhary Om Parkash Chautala began in the year 1970, when he first got elected to the Haryana Legislative Assembly. He was also elected to the Haryana Legislative Assembly in the years 1990, 1993, 1996, 2000, 2005 and 2009. He adorned the office of Chief Minister of Haryana five times from December 2, 1989 to May 23, 1990, July 12, 1990 to July 17, 1990, March 22, 1991 to April 5, 1991, July 24, 1999 to March 2, 2000 and March 2, 2000 to March 5, 2005. In his death, Haryana has lost an administrator of high calibre. The House conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family.

The House also expressed its deep sense of sorrow on the sad demise of Satpal Sangwan, former Minister of Haryana, on March 3, 2025. Sh. Satpal Sangwan was born on January 7, 1942. He was elected to the Haryana Legislative Assembly in the years 1996 and 2009. Не remained Minister during 2011-14 and held a number of important portfolios. He was a committed social worker.
The House also mourned the sad demise of Dr. Kirpa Ram Punia, former Minister of Haryana, on January 19, 2025. Punia was born on January 1, 1936. He was elected to the Haryana Legislative Assembly in 1987 and remained Minister during 1987-89. He held a number of important portfolios. These included Development & Panchayat, Social Welfare, Agriculture, Technical Education, Industries, Tourism and Mines & Geology. This was during his tenure as Minister in the State.

Inspector Dharamveer hails from village Kosli, District Rewari. Inspector Sandeep is from village Guwani, District Mahendragarh. Assistant Sub Inspector Agnivesh belongs to village Datal, District Mahendragarh. Assistant Sub Inspector Surender Ahlawat is from village Sheriya Kalan, District Jhajjar. Havildar Rajkumar comes from village Talwana, District Mahendragarh. and Havildar Harvinder is from village Bhaloth, District Rohtak. Havildar Sandeep Kumar hails from village Kharak Jatan, District Rohtak. Head Constable Sunil Kumar Hooda belongs to village Kiloi, District Rohtak. Pradhan Navik Manoj Kumar comes from village Mundahera, District Jhajjar. Naik Deepak Kumar is from village Dharana, District Jhajjar. Naik Deepak Mailk is from village Kasanda, District Sonipat. Corporal Manjeet Kumar belongs to village Baganwala, District Bhiwani. Corporal Deepak Kumar is from village Salhawas, District Jhajjar.
