Kotkapura, April 25, 2025 – In a meaningful step to connect the younger generation with Sikh religious teachings and heritage, the World Sikh Council organized a one-day Gurmat Education Camp at village Dheeman Wali, located in the Faridkot district of Punjab. The Panch Pradhani (Five Singhs) guided and led the camp.
Over 500 children from 15 nearby villages enthusiastically joined the camp, which aimed to instill Sikh values, Gurmat knowledge, and cultural pride among youth.
Activities Promoting Sikh Legacy
The camp featured a written test on Sikh history, a Gurmat quiz competition, and traditional Punjabi games, fostering learning through engagement. Children also participated by reciting poems and reading essays that highlighted the rich Sikh legacy and spiritual values.Gurmat Education Camp : Inspirational Leadership and Participation
Religious scholars and leaders, including Bhai Makhan Singh Sangrur, Bhai Pippal Singh from Sri Damdama Sahib, and other notable personalities, shared inspiring messages with the participants. Addressing the gathering, the Five Singhs encouraged parents to involve their children in Gurmat education. They motivated families to stay connected to Sikh religious traditions.Honours and Cultural Highlights
To appreciate their efforts, all participating children and volunteers were honoured with medals, shields, and sets of Sikh religious books. A special highlight of the event was a demonstration of Gatka (Sikh martial arts). It was performed by the local martial arts team from village Dheeman Wali.
