Chandigarh, March 4 ;For the last few days, the Punjab government has been vigorously running its campaign against drugs. A petition filed in the High Court by an NGO challenges these efforts. This has led the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to level serious allegations against the Congress.

AAP Leader Accuses Congress of Using Courts to Block Punjab’s Anti-Drug Drive

Senior AAP leader and MP Malvinder Singh Kang accused the Congress party. He claimed they are trying to use the courts to halt the Punjab government’s anti-drug campaign. He said that the organization ‘People Welfare Society’ filed the petition against the government’s actions targeting drug smugglers. It is run by staunch Cong supporters. Kang showed the media old photos of the NGO operators Kanwar Rajinder Singh and Kanwar Pal Singh with Rahul Gandhi. Then-Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was also in the photos. These images highlight their longstanding ties with the Congress party.

Congress : Petition Seeks to Halt Punjab’s Anti-Drug Drive: Kang

He said the petitioners deliberately filed the case to stop Punjab’s anti-drug campaign, even though the government targeted those involved in illegal activities and demolished illegally built structures on government land used for drug trafficking. The individuals involved had amassed immense wealth by selling narcotics. Kang cited the example of Sonu from Ludhiana, who had illegally constructed buildings on railway land. He also mentioned Rinky (husband – Balbir Singh) from Patiala, who encroached on temple land to build illegal structures. Similarly, Jasvir Singh from Jalandhar had built on village common land (Shamlat land). Kang said authorities took action against all locations linked to drug trafficking in accordance with the law. Kang questioned the Congress party, asking why it wanted to stop the Punjab government’s anti-drug campaign. “Does it want to protect drug smugglers?” He demanded that Punjab Congress leaders and Rahul Gandhi respond to this. Kang alleged that Congress leaders had ties with drug smugglers and had provided them government protection during their rule. Hence, Congress does not want any action to be taken against the drug mafia. However, the people of Punjab are watching these actions and will respond to Congress. Reiterating the Aam Aadmi Party’s commitment to the fight against drugs, Kang said that no matter how hard Congress tries, this campaign will continue. The AAP government vows to eradicate drugs from Punjab.
