Thanneeru Harish Rao, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Telegana, commends PGIMER as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ during his visit to the Institute
Expresses keen interest to replicate PGIMER’s best practices and innovations in Telengana hospitals
Chandigarh: June 29 : Thanneeru Harish Rao, Hon’ble Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Telengana commended PGIMER as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ during his visit to the Institute today.
The Hon’ble Minister, accompanied by Dr. K.Manohar, Director NIMS, Hyderabad and Ms. Neetu Prasad, IAS, arrived at the Institute this morning and was warmly welcomed by Prof. Vivek Lal, Director and Shri Kumar Gaurav Dhawan, (IRS), Deputy Director Administration, PGIMER amongst others..
Later, the Hon’ble Minister had a meeting with senior officials of the institute comprising Prof. Vivek Lal, Director, Prof. G.D.Puri, Dean (Academics) Shri Kumar Gaurav Dhawan, (IRS), Deputy Director (Administration), Prof. Vipin Koushal, Medical Superintendent-cum-Head, Department of Hospital Administration, Shri Kumar Abhay (IAAS), Financial Advisor, Prof. R.K.Sehgal Sub-Dean (Research) and Dr. Navin Pandey from Deptt. of Hospital Administration, PGIMER.
A detailed presentation was made before the dignitary. This included details about the institute’s history, traditions and academic growth over the last 60 years. He was also apprised about the hospital structure, the advanced centres of patient care, training and research as well as upcoming new centres like the Advanced Neurosciences Centre and Advanced Mother and Child Care Centre.
Complimenting PGIMER for its laudable initiatives, the Hon’ble Minister stated that the way PGIMER has risen to the occasion since inception and especially through the challenging times of COVID 19 and even after two years, still fighting relentlessly without any trace of fatigue, thereby significantly and successfully managing the pandemic in the region, is a testimony to the fact that PGIMER is, beyond doubt, a ‘centre of excellence’.
The Hon’ble Minister expressed his keen interest to replicate some of the best practices and innovations of PGIMER in his state hospitals to strengthen and upscale healthcare facilities there.
Following the meeting, Director, NIMS visited Advanced Trauma Centre, New OPD Block; Advanced Eye Centre; Advanced Cardiac Centre; Advanced Paediatric Centre, and Nehru Extension Block. At these centres, the Director, NIMS interacted with doctors, paramedics, and patients and complimented the Institute for its patient care and delivery mechanism despite being overwhelmed with patients from across the region.
