CHANDIGARH , jan 26 : Residents of Rajeev Vihar Army Welfare Housing Society, located in Sector 13, Chandigarh, came together to commemorate Republic Day with utmost patriotic fervour and joyous celebration within the premises of its Complex in Manimajra. The esteemed presence of Chief Guest Mrs. Savita Rana, wife of the late Lt Col SS Rana, ASHOK CHAKRA (Posthumous), graced the occasion by unfurling the National Flag. Accompanying her, Brig BM Bakshi (Retd) adorned the event as the distinguished guest of honor, alongside Lt Col DS Sra, the President, and other esteemed members of the Management Committee who graced the gathering with their presence.The residents of Rajeev Vihar Army Welfare Society expressed their heartfelt appreciation towards Lt Col Sra, President of the Society, for extending the honor of inviting Mrs. Savita Rana as the Chief Guest to unfurl the national flag. The Ashok Chakra, being the highest gallantry award during peacetime, stands as a testament to Ltnew Col S S Rana’s remarkable valor and sacrifice. Awarded for his extraordinary act of bravery while combating terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir in 1995, Lt Col S S Rana’s courageous actions exemplified his unwavering dedication to the motherland, ultimately leading to the supreme sacrifice of his life.
