Chandigarh, Oct 27 : A high powered delegation of BJP Punjab today met Sh Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor,
Punjab today demanded his intervention to ensure timely lifting of paddy from across the state’s grain markets and gifting a happier Diwali to Punjab farmers.
National Executive Members Avinash Rai Khanna, Sardar Harjit Singh Grewal, Sardar Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi, Amanjot Kaur Ramowalia, MLA Jangi Lal Mahajan, Maharani Perneet Kaur ex union minister, State Vice President Fateh Jang Singh Bajwa, Bikramjit Singh Cheema, state President Kisan Morcha Darshan Singh Nainewal, and state Media Head BJP Punjab Vineet Joshi comprised the delegation.
The delegation further apprised the Governor of the law and order crisis in the state, which has arisen due to the inability of the AAP Government to effectively lift paddy from mandis across Punjab during the ongoing procurement season.
Govt got Rs 44000 crore for the purchase of paddy
They noted that, despite having received ₹44,000 crore in late September from the Central Government for paddy procurement at MSP, the Punjab Government has, however, still failed to lift most of the paddy from mandis, even though 26 days have passed since the procurement season began.The state faces widespread procurement issues, including shortages of gunny bags, tarpaulin, delayed notifications for custom and FRK milling policies, and delays in labor and transport contracts. Basic facilities like drinking water, toilets, and medical services in mandis are also lacking. A major failure is the Punjab Government’s inability to secure agreements with 5,500 rice millers for paddy milling.

Farmers who have been protesting now block the National & State Highways and local roads leading to great inconvenience to the people of Punjab during the festive season.
They have requested for the intervention of the Governor to ensure the complete lifting of paddy from mandis and gift farmers of Punjab happiness to celebrate the Deepawali and BandiChhor Divas with their families.
