In response to the ongoing strike
by outsourced Hospital Attendants, Sanitary Attendants, and Bearers at PGIMER, the administration is taking necessary steps to ensure the continued delivery of essential medical services while prioritizing patient care.

Prof. Vivek Lal, Director PGIMER, stated, “We understand the concerns of our outsourced workers and acknowledge the importance of their roles within the institution. Our primary focus is on patient care and safety, and we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of healthcare during this challenging period. We are open to dialogue and are actively engaging with all stakeholders to resolve the matter amicably.”

Lauding the efforts made by student volunteers and voluntary organisations during this challenging time, the Director PGIMER said, “ We commend voluntary organisations like Vishav Manav Ruhani Kendra, Nawan Nagar, Sukh Foundation and Rotract in addition to NSS Student Volunteers for their significant contributions and invaluable role to ensure that patient care remained uninterrupted.

Urging for public’s understanding and patience in this tough situation, Prof. Lal further said, “We appreciate the support of our patients and their families as we navigate this situation. Our commitment to patient welfare remains unwavering.”

As part of the contingency plan, PGIMER has implemented measures to manage essential services effectively.

While Emergency, Trauma, and ICU services will continue as usual, OPD services will be limited to follow-up patients’ registrations from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Monday, 14th October 2024. No new patients’ registrations will be done and online registrations, those already made, stand cancelled. Scheduled chemotherapy in the day care unit will continue as planned.

Additionally, no elective admissions will be made, and elective surgeries have been postponed, with patients being informed accordingly.

The hospital is also urging neighboring healthcare facilities not to refer new patients to PGIMER during this period.

PGIMER remains dedicated to ensuring that the ongoing strike does not compromise the quality of care provided to patients. The administration is mobilizing available resources to support essential services to ensure patient well-being.
