PGI Professor honoured with Excellence award
Advanced Eye Centre, PGI Chandigarh, hailed with pride as the Paediatric Ophthalmology division had multiple reasons to celebrate last week. Professor Jaspreet Sukhija was honoured with the prestigious ‘Prof B S Goel Excellence in Strabismology Award 2021’ at the recently concluded Annual Conference of the Strabismus and Paediatric Ophthalmology Society of India held in Bhopal.
This is one of the highest awards given by the Strabismus and Paediatric Ophthalmology Society of India. It is bestowed to those who have done remarkable work in the field of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus over the years. Professor Sukhija has been taking care of eye diseases in children for 15 years at PGI. He has received his training in the UK.His area of interest is visual problems, squints and cataracts in children.
Dr Savleen Kaur, Assistant Professor in the same division received the best paper award for her research work on the latest imaging tools in the management of complex strabismus surgeries and was critically acclaimed by all. Some of the other recent achievements by the pediatric ophthalmology division were Dr Sukhija’s research work on cataracts in children which was selected as one of the best three papers at the Annual Meeting of the British Pediatric Ophthalmology Society. Both of the consultants were also recently given the International ophthalmology star award at the international conference of the Delhi Ophthalmological Society.
