*PGI Cardiology department felicitated with oration lecture and award*
When it comes to research in the field of Medical Sciences, the name PGI, Chandigarh is always mentioned due to its contribution to the myriad fields focussing on various aspects. This ever-growing contribution to scientific research was continued when one of its faculty was felicitated with a prestigious scientific oration award during a recently concluded 74th Annual Conference of the Cardiology Society of India, held at Chennai from 8-11th December 2022.
*Prof (Dr) Rajesh Vijayvergiya* from the department of Cardiology, PGI who has more than 250 research papers to his credit, was recently invited to deliver the prestigious Dr. Amalananda Das Memorial Oration lecture at the annual cardiology conference. He shared his research and experience with the eminent faculty members/experts/delegates in the meeting. I feel humbled to be felicitated with this prestigious award and would like to thank my teachers, seniors and colleagues of the Institute, whose contributions were immense and instrumental in my journey so far, commented Dr Vijayvergiya.
The icing on the cake was the selection of another Resident doctor from the department of Cardiology for the prestigious Navin C Nanda Young Investigator Award at the same conference. Dr Lucky Kumar received this award for his research work on “Early detection of Cardiac toxicity by Echocardiography in Lymphoma patients receiving anti-cancer drugs”. The research work was carried out under the supervision of Prof Dr Rajesh Vijayvergiya and Prof Dr Pankaj Malhotra from the department of Cardiology and Hemato-oncology, respectively.
