Life time achievement award for former PGI doctor


At the just concluded 63rd Annual Conference of Indian Society of Gastroenterology at Jaipur, Dr Rakesh Kochhar was conferred with Dr FP Antia Memorial  Life Time Achievement Award by the Society. Dr Kochhar is a former professor and head of the department of Gastroenterology at PGI and currently works at Fortis Hospital Mohali. The award was bestowed upon Dr Kochhar in recognition of his contributions to teaching and research in Gastroenterology and his efforts to strengthen the Society. He has pioneered many endoscopic techniques and worked on acute pancreatitis, ulcerative colitis and celiac disease. He has trained over 150 students in gastroenterology and is a revered teacher.

Dr Kochhar has over 450 research publications and he has been a member of national task force on celiac disease and inflammatory bowel disease. He has been a participant in many international studies on acute pancreatitis.
