Action halted after AAP leaders lodged protest before UT Advisor
Chandigarh, July 23, 2024: Local people and senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Dr. Harmeet Singh and Area Councilor Manowar strongly opposed the sealing of five EWS houses in Sector 56 by the Chandigarh Housing Board team. Despite heavy opposition, the Housing Board team continued its action.
AAP leader Dr. Harmeet Singh and Councilor Manowar said that the Chandigarh Administration has been working under the pressure of BJP leaders for a long time and the people of Chandigarh are being pushed around every day. Today, the Chandigarh Housing Board team reached Sector 56 to forcibly seal five houses of the poor. The Housing Board team was requested several times not to seal the houses, but the Housing Board team did not listen to anyone and continued its action and the houses were sealed.
He further said that after the Housing Board team sealed the houses, Mayor Kuldeep Kumar and Aam Aadmi Party’s legal team leader Advocate Ferry Sofat contacted the UT Advisor. The UT Advisor was informed in detail about the harassment of the people, after which these five houses were de-sealed after the intervention of the UT Advisor.
Dr. Harmeet Singh further said that the Aam Aadmi Party stands with the people of Chandigarh at all times. Harassment of the people of the city will not be tolerated. If any such action is taken by the administration in the near future, it will be strongly opposed.
