Blood Donation Camp by SUKH Foundation & Blood Bank PGIMER witnesses overwhelming response with 73  donating blood & 11 pledging for organ donation

In its endeavor to ensure adequate blood availability in the region, the SUKH (Society United for Kindling Health) Foundation, a renowned not for profit organization organized a Blood Donation and Organ Donation Pledging Camp at Market in coordination with the Department of Transfusion, PGIMER at  Sector 22 A Chandigarh.

Graced by the Chief Guest,Nilambari Jagdale IPS, AIG State Cyber Crime Punjab, the camp witnessed an overwhelming response with 73 volunteering to donate blood and 11 coming forward to pledge for organ donation at the camp.

Other dignitaries present on the occasion included Prof. Vipin Koushal, Additional Medical Superintendent PGIMER & Dr.Suchet Sachdeva, Associate Professor Department of Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER, and senior functionaries of the SUKH Foundation.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest Mrs.Nilambari Jagdale IPS stated“Blood donation is not only an act of ‘kindness, its much more than that. It is, in fact, a ‘gift of life’.” She Complimented SUKH Foundation for their commendable effort.

Prof. Vipin Koushal, Additional Medical Superintendent PGIMER lauded the donors as he shared, “These initiatives  serve as a motivating factor for the donors; encouraging them to actively participate in the movement as well as role models for wider community engagement.”

Speaking to the media, Mr Amit Dewan,President and Taranbir Lalli ,Director of the Foundation said that SUKH Foundation is committed to regularly organize such blood donation camps for meeting the requirements at PGI Blood Bank. The foundation is grateful to all the blessed souls who came forward to donate blood and also pledge their organs. Amit Dewan also thanked the core members of SUKH Foundation including  Tapan Dewan, Himanshu Barthwal, Upinder Singh, Dhruv Gupta, Amarjit Nagra andSaryu Thakur.

The event was sponsored by NRI Raveesh Dewan from USA and was supportedby Market Association of Sector 22 A.

SUKH (Society United for Kindling Health) Foundation is a conglomeration of citizens of the region dedicated to selfless service towards the society. The foundation’s activities are focused on providing better medical facilities to the needy and creating a healthy society. During the COVID lockdown as well, SUKH Foundation conducted blood donation camps in Chandigarh in collaboration with PGI Blood Bank wherein more than 500 blood units and 350 organ donors participated. SUKH Foundation also provided Langar Seva to the underprivileged!

 

“RADIOLOGY FACULTY GETS NATIONAL AWARD”

 

 

 

Dr. Harish Bhujade, Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiodiagnosis and Imaging at PGI, has been awarded the prestigious ICRI Travelling fellowship (2022) by the Indian College of Radiology and Imaging. Each year, ICRI selects one or two radiologist’s from academic centres across all of  India for this very prestigious national award.

Prof M S Sandhu, head of the department said, it’s a matter of great pride for the department and for the institute that Dr Harish has received this very coveted award. The fellowship offers young radiologists an opportunity to learn and share knowledge among other medical institutes of the country. The purpose of this award is to stimulate bright, promising young radiologists to continue with an academic career and enhance their credentials as well as patient care by sharing skills and knowledge with other premium institutes of the country, and abroad.

Dr Rajath Gowda, an MD student of the department of Radiodiagnosis and Imaging at PGI, has received the Dr N Ramdas Best Research Paper award given by the Indian College of Radiology, for the research on minimally invasive therapy of liver cancer under the guidance of Dr Sreedhar, Assistant Professor, Department of Radiodiagnosis and Imaging, at PGI.

This is a moment of prestige and honour for the department and the institute that our MD student got this prestigious national award said Prof M S Sandhu. The award aims to boost the academic carrier and future endeavours of radiology residents.
