PUNJAB POLICE COMMITTED TO ENSURE SAFETY OF NATIONAL ASSETS OIL AND GAS

—      OFFERS COMPLETE SUPPORT FROM PUNJAB POLICE TO OIL AND GAS COMPANIES, AIMING AT EFFECTIVE COORDINATION AMONG STAKEHOLDERS

CHANDIGARH, December 2:

          The 4th Onshore Security Coordination Committee (OSCC) meeting for the State of Punjab was organised under the Chairmanship of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Security SS Srivastava on Thursday. The ADGP Security was attending the meeting on behalf of DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav.

          ADGP Counter Intelligence Amit Prasad, GAIL’s working Advisor (Security) Saurabh Tolumbia and representatives from various organisations including representatives from  GAIL, IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, HMEL, Think Gas and Torrent Gas along with representatives from Intelligence Bureau, BSF, CRPF, Fire department and Mining department of Punjab.

          During the exchange of information and suggestions, the stakeholders also discussed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), scaling up of security, keeping vigil via CCTVs and Drone Surveillance during the meeting. In addition an interactive session on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds and various projects of the Oil PSUs were also conducted, aiming at effective coordination along with their solutions in order to adapt to the evolving challenges in respective fields.

          Various suggestions were also made by DIG/BSF Shashank regarding exchanging inputs with the concerned heads of the Vital Installations for better preparedness.

          Subject matters related to Law and Order Situation in the State of Punjab were also discussed by ADGP Counter Intelligence Amit Prasad & IGP Law and Order PK Yadav during the detailed session in the meeting.

          ADGP Security SS Srivastava emphasized  the importance of having a strong network of information regarding the theft of Oil or Pipeline Leakages and to take stringent action against the accused, under the sections of PMP Act. He further reiterated to activate the Special Mock Drills/Operations, especially in Bathinda and Jalandhar refineries,  which would exclusively look after the crimes and security related issues followed up by a report compiled at DPO level in the respective districts. These special operations will be dedicated to counter any sort of threat. Importance of regular updation of contingency plans as per the technology advancements was also discussed.

          The presentation given by the representative of GAIL officials especially appreciated the efforts and support provided by the Punjab Police for curbing the incidents related to security matters resulting in zero such incident in the last two years.

          The Chairman requested all oil and gas companies to feel free to reach out to the Punjab Police for any kind of assistance.
