4 Educational Films from PGIMER nominated in International Science Film Festival of India 2020.

It was another milestone accomplished by PGIMER as 4 of its educational films have been nominated under different categories in International Science Film Festival of India 2020. The details of the entries is given as under :

Film titled: War against COVID 19 directed by Mr. Abhijeet Singh, Junior Photographer, Deptt. of Clinical Photography under the able guidance of Prof.G.D Puri, Dean (Academics) PGIMER is nominated under Science and Awareness on COVID-19 and other health emergencies. The video briefs the journey of PGIMER and its preparedness for war against CORONA Pandemic. In a very short span of time, Nehru Extension Block was designated as a COVID Hospital and the commendable effort of all the staff member of PGIMER (both clinical, non-clinical, nursing, technical, sanitation, engineering, biomedical and so on) who worked  day and night is depicted briefly in this video.

Film titled:  Breast Cancer directed by MrAbhijeet Singh  Junior Photographer, Deptt. of Clinical Photography under the guidance of Ms.Maninder Deep Kaur and Dr.Budhi Singh Yadav from Deptt. of Radiotherapy, PGIMER, is nominated under category Science for Self- reliant India.  Treatment can cause changes in the body. Lymphedema, fatigue, loss of sexual desires are some of the problems faced by patients. These changes can affect patients physically and emotionally. The video highlights the ways that can help the patient to deal with these changes. The film will surely encourage women to take their health in their own hand and familiarize the families with the issue of breast cancer.

Film titled:  Hypoglycemia directed by Ms. Kritika Thakur( Final year B. Sc. Student in Animation and Audio Visual creation) is nominated under student  category Science for self- reliant India and has been developed under technical guidance of Sh.Brijlal, l Senior Technical Officer/Coordinator for B.Sc Animation and Audio Visual Creation

. Film titled:  Badlaav directed by Ms. Kritika Thakur( Final year B. Sc. Student in Animation and Audio Visual creation) is  nominated under Student category Science and awareness on COVID-19 and other health emergencies and has been prepared under technical guidance of Sh.Brijlal, l Senior Technical Officer/Coordinator for B.Sc Animation and Audio Visual Creation

Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji is inaugurating India International Science Festival 2020 on 22nd December 2020 at 4:00 PM. The festival’s valedictory function will be graced by Hon’ble Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu Ji on 25th December 2020 at 4:00 PM.

The prime objective of IISF is to celebrate scientific achievements and advancements of our country and propagate scientific temper across the spectrum of society, exchange of knowledge and ideas among young minds and showcasing of recent developments in the field of Science, Technology and Innovation as well as Indian contribution therein. The theme of IISF-2020 is ‘Science for Self-Reliant India and Global Welfare’.

 

Carmel Convent School organises Infotainment Session on Organ Donation 

with ‘COVID Appropriate Behaviour’

   

 

Chandigarh : 22 December : In sync with the motto of NSS, ‘Not Me, But You’, Carmel Convent School organized an infotainment session with ‘COVID Appropriate Behaviour ‘on the noble cause of Organ Donation for the volunteers of NSS during their ongoing camp at the school premises in Sector-9, Chandigarh, today.

Mr. Bikram Rana, State Liaison Officer (NSS) Chandigarh graced as the Chief Guest on the Session organised under student engagement programme “Be The Change, Be An Organ Donor” of Regional Organ & Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO) PGIMER.

Expressing his happiness at the positive turnout at the session, Mr. Bikram Rana, said, “Organ Donation is truly a manifestation of NSS motto, Not Me, But You, There could not have been a better way to teach the spirit of selfless service amongst the students.”. He highlighted the need to talk about the issue and proposed to make this campaign a part of NSS activities in other schools as well. The Chief Guest also lauded the efforts of the NSS volunteers in Covid 19.

Ms Preeti Swami, NSS Programme Officer, Carmel Convent School, reiterated the sentiment and said, “Encouraging participation from the students to inculcate awareness among family members to promote Organ Donation is a welcome step as students can act as ‘change agents.’

The session started a Painting competition, which witnessed creativity as well as sensitivity towards the cause at its best. Voicing their support for the organ donation and its soul satisfying benefits, the students displayed surprising work of art and imagination in the Painting Competition. The Quiz Contest also witnessed equally enthusiastic response with students vying for the answers.

These fun activities were followed by an awareness talk on the altruistic cause of Organ Donation by a resource team from ROTTO PGIMER comprising Mr. Karanjot Thind and Mr. Gurpinder Singh. The speakers also addressed the queries pertaining to the myths and misconceptions prevalent in the society.

The event culminated with the felicitation of the winners of the painting competition and quiz contest
