
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested former state minister and senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia.
Chandigarh, June 25: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested former state minister and senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Majithia.Vigilance teams raided Bikram Majithia’s residences in Amritsar and Chandigarh, along with nine other locations. During the raid at his Amritsar residence, Majithia and his wife, MLA Ganieve Kaur, were present in the house.
Early this morning, a Vigilance team conducted a raid at Majithia’s residence in Amritsar, where he was present. He was taken into custody following the raid and is expected to be produced before the Mohali court later today.

Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal issued a strong statement in response to the arrest. He said,
“Drug smugglers will not be spared. Those who pushed Punjab into drug abuse will face strict action.
“Kejriwal alleged that ministers in previous governments used their vehicles for smuggling and sheltered international smugglers in their homes.No matter how powerful the person is, they will not be spared,” he asserted.
Joint teams of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau and Punjab Police carried out simultaneous raids today. This was part of a major crackdown on the drug trade. They targeted 26 locations across the state. The operation covered multiple districts including Amritsar, Sangrur, Majitha, Tarn Taran, Ludhiana, Pathankot, and Hoshiarpur.
AAP leader Baltej Pannu called the action “historic” and said,”We have information that raids were conducted at more than 25 locations. The results of this operation will be revealed soon.”
