
Cabinet Minister Pays Floral Tributes to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at Bathinda on His 134th Birth Anniversary
Chandigarh/ Bathinda, April 14
Punjab Cabinet Minister Mr. Mohinder Bhagat, while addressing the gathering after paying floral tributes to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on his 134th birth anniversary at Government Rajindra College, Bathinda, said that with six SC ministers in the Punjab Cabinet, first-ever reservation in the AG Office and hassle-free disbursement of SC scholarships, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government is realising the dream of Baba Saheb.
On this occasion, MLA Bathinda (Urban) Mr. Jagroop Singh Gill, MLA Bathinda (Rural) Mr. Amit Ratan Kotfatta, MLA Bhucho Mandi Mr. Master Jagsir Singh, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Showkat Ahmad Parray, SSP Amneet Kondal, and other prominent personalities were present.
Minister Mohinder Bhagat said that Dr. B.R Ambedkar firmly believed that “Education is the milk of a lioness; only those who drink it will roar.” He always emphasized the importance of education in uplifting the marginalized and underprivileged sections of society. It was due to his tireless efforts that many educational institutions were established, providing thousands of students access to quality higher education.
Mr. Mohinder Bhagat, while extending his greetings on the birth anniversary of Baba Sahib Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, said that such a remarkable personality, whose vision and relentless efforts laid the foundation for an inclusive and progressive India. He also stated that Dr. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Constitution, was not just a legal scholar but also a revolutionary thinker, a social reformer and a champion of equality.
During the event, Mr. Bhagat said that Dr. Ambedkar’s relentless efforts to eliminate caste-based discrimination and promote social equality continue to be a source of inspiration for all of us. He said that Baba Sahib fought for the rights of the marginalized and worked tirelessly towards building a more inclusive society. He also led significant reforms for women’s rights and education, including the introduction of the Hindu Code Bill and initiatives for equitable benefits.
Earlier, Bathinda (Urban) MLA S. Jagrup Singh Gill, Bathinda (Rural) MLA Mr. Amit Rattan Kotfatta and Bhucho Mandi MLA Master Jagsir Singh enlightened the students about the life and legacy of Baba Sahib Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and urged them to follow in his footsteps. They said that the life of Baba Sahib inspires us to work towards a future where every citizen stands equal.
Prior to this, upon his arrival, Cabinet Minister Mr. Mohinder Bhagat was accorded a Guard of Honour by the police contingent. He also paid floral tributes at the statue of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar near the District Administrative Complex. On the occasion of Baba Sahib’s birth anniversary and to promote environmental conservation, the Cabinet Minister also planted a sapling.The minister also distributed appreciation letters to eligible beneficiaries under the Ashirwad Scheme.
At the conclusion of the event, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ms. Poonam Singh extended a vote of thanks to the Chief Guest, Cabinet Minister Mr. Mohinder Bhagat, and all other distinguished dignitaries.
