Bathinda/Chandigarh, February 5 : The Aam Aadmi Party secured control over five municipal corporations in Punjab. Today, they achieved another milestone. They elected their mayor in the Bathinda Municipal Corporation. AAP Councillor Padamjit Mehta has been elected as the Mayor of Bathinda Municipal Corporation.
AAP Councillor Padamjit Mehta received 33 votes
In the mayoral election, Padamjit Mehta received 33 votes, while the Congress candidate secured only 15 votes. In the recently held by-election for Ward No. 48 of Bathinda Municipal Corporation, Mehta had won with a margin of approximately 850 votes.
The AAP mayor was elected. Following this, the party’s Punjab President Aman Arora addressed a press conference in Bathinda. He was accompanied by other party leaders. Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian joined him. MLA Rajneesh Dahiya also joined. AAP Co-President Amansher Singh Sherry Kalsi was present too. Party leaders Neel Garg and Shaminder Khinda were also there.
Aman Arora congratulated the people of Bathinda. He also congratulated the party’s local leaders and workers on the election of the new mayor. He thanked the councillors who supported AAP’s mayoral candidate. Arora stated that the councillors rose above party politics. They elected an AAP mayor for the development of the city. This ensures the swift resolution of local issues.
Arora noted that in the recently concluded municipal elections, Aam Aadmi Party won over 55 percent of the seats. In contrast, Congress managed to win only 19 percent. Post-elections, AAP has elected mayors, presidents, and chairpersons in 35 places so far. Recently, AAP elected mayors in Patiala, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, and Phagwara.Today, AAP made its mayor in Bathinda as well. This is a matter of immense pride and honor for us.
Arora assured the people of Bathinda. He said that under the leadership of AAP Mayor Padamjit Mehta, Bathinda will witness record-breaking development. We will expedite pending projects and formulate a detailed plan for new initiatives. We commit to developing Bathinda city.
