Mann Govt Leads 10-Day Cleanliness Mega Drive in 2,300 Villages — Both Broom & JCBs at Work
Chandigarh, September 14, 2025 ; When Punjab faced the flood crisis, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his government fulfilled their responsibilities on the ground with full dedication. Now, as the water recedes, the Mann govt has launched a massive campaign for relief, cleanliness, and reconstruction. From September 14 to September 23, a special drive for cleaning and restoration is being conducted across the state, simultaneously starting in more than 2,300 villages and urban wards.
The aim of this mega campaign is to make every street, every locality, and every ward clean, hygienic, and even better than before. Clear instructions have been given to municipal corporations, councils, and panchayats. This is to remove the silt, sludge, and filth left behind by waterlogging. In several districts, more than 1,000 sanitation workers, over 200 tractor-trolleys, 150 JCB machines, and hundreds of health workers are continuously engaged in this mission. The government has appointed nodal officers in every district who are directly supervising the work. Each zone has been assigned to an officer with strict instructions to stay on the ground every day until the work is complete. Commissioners in municipal corporations and ADCs in districts have been given the special responsibility to ensure no complaint remains unresolved.

The Health Department is carrying out medicine spraying, clean water supply, and primary medical camps in flood-affected areas. As per the advisory issued on September 5, all ULBs have been directed to immediately implement sanitation and disease-prevention measures.
A fast-track survey has also begun to assess the damage caused by the floods. Engineering teams are evaluating houses, shops, roads, electric poles, and water supply projects—both public and private properties—so that compensation can be provided to every affected person at the earliest.
