AAP Government Firmly Committed to Protecting People’s Rights, No Ration Card Will Be Cancelled in Punjab
Chandigarh, 24 August ; Ministers and MLAs of the Aam Aadmi Party today held press conferences in all districts against the removal of names of Punjab’s people from the free ration list. They opened a front against the Bharatiya Janata Party and launched a sharp attack on the central government.
In their press conferences, AAP leaders alleged that the BJP and the central government are conspiring to stop the free ration of 55 lakh Punjabis. They are doing this to harass the people of Punjab and its farmers. “But we will not tolerate this and will not allow even a single Punjabi’s name to be removed from the free ration list,” said AAP leaders.

On Sunday, AAP Punjab President and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora, Cabinet Ministers Harpal Cheema, Harbhajan Singh ETO, Laljit Bhullar, Dr. Baljit Kaur, Tarunpreet Sondh, Dr. Balbir Singh, Dr. Ravjot, Hardeep Mundian, and Mohinder Bhagat along with dozens of AAP MLAs addressed the media at all district headquarters and expressed serious concern while questioning the central government’s intentions.
AAP leaders alleged that under the excuse of KYC, the central government stopped ration for 23 lakh Punjabis in July. Now it is threatening to stop the ration of 32 lakh more people from 30 September. This is outright injustice against Punjab and an attempt to harass common people unnecessarily. We will not tolerate this at any cost. As long as there is an Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, we will not let a single ration card be cancelled.
They said that the central government’s decision is completely anti-Punjab and anti-poor. Free ration is a major support for the poor. Even thinking of stopping it is a grave sin. One AAP leader said that the central government claims to provide free ration to 80 crore people, but in Punjab, it is planning to cancel the ration cards of 55 lakh people. Why does the BJP have so much hatred for the people of Punjab? They said that after vote theft, BJP’s new trick is ration theft.
AAP Accuses BJP of Anti-Poor Politics Over Ration Cuts
They said the excuses being made by the BJP government to cancel ration cards are extremely ridiculous. If one member of a family makes a mistake, the entire family cannot be punished for it. In fact, this has exposed the BJP’s anti-poor agenda. Keeping the poor and common people in trouble is the politics of the BJP. That is why it always talks about industrialists and corporates.
AAP leaders said that Punjab has made the country self-reliant in food grains. Before the Green Revolution, the country had to beg America and other nations for food, but Punjab and neighboring states produced wheat and rice in huge quantities and always kept the country’s food reserves full. Now the same Punjab is being deprived of ration. This is extremely unfortunate and condemnable.
The central government should not discriminate against Punjab. It should learn from history and change its outlook towards Punjab. AAP leaders also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They said that free grain is the right of the poor. Therefore, the new conditions of the ration card should be reconsidered.

AAP MLAs and ministers assured the people of Punjab. They emphasized that the Punjab government is committed to protecting the rights of the people of the state. We will not let the names of any ration card holders be removed.

The Aam Aadmi Party also expressed serious concern over the issue of BJP leaders illegally collecting people’s personal data in the name of government schemes and appealed to the government to immediately stop such programs.
The party said that the BJP has already been exposed in its attempts to manipulate voter lists and usurp power. Now the whole country knows how BJP leaders steal elections through fake votes. But such attempts will never succeed in Punjab. AAP leaders appealed to the people. They requested that whenever they see BJP leaders, they should ask them. Ask the BJP leaders why they are removing the names of lakhs of Punjabis from the ration list. If they do not answer, then boycott them collectively.
