Bhagwant Mann’s Oppressive Government Cannot Stop Me from Raising People’s Voice with Police Force: jakhar
Chandigarh, August 22: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Sunil Jakhar, terming today a black day, has called the Punjab government led by Bhagwant Singh Mann a government that murders democracy. He said that the government is under Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership. It cannot stop Sunil Jakhar from speaking for the people. They cannot achieve this through police repression. He stated that he is not intimidated by these actions of the government. He was on his way to participate in an awareness camps organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party in Raipura village of the Baluana Assembly constituency from Abohar to inform people about the central government’s schemes. However, during this, the oppressive police of the state government detained him to prevent him from proceeding further.
“BJP’s Awareness Camps Stopped Illegally: Jakhar
On this occasion, upon being stopped by the police, he staged a sit-in protest on the road itself. Addressing the gathering during the sit-in, Sunil Jakhar said that the state government has failed on every front and is not ensuring that the benefits of the central government’s schemes reach the people, especially the poor, due to which the common poor are suffering.
He said that raising awareness among people about the central government’s schemes is not a crime, and the Bharatiya Janata Party is organizing camps in villages for this purpose. However, the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has not accepted this and, adopting a repressive policy, is illegally stopping the party’s camps. Jakhar said that this government is harassing every section of society. He added that the poor, who are being denied the benefits of the central government’s schemes, will oust this government from power in the upcoming elections.
Beneficiaries of PM-Kisan in Punjab Drop Sharply: Jakhar
He stated that under the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, there were 22 lakh beneficiaries in Punjab. However, due to the government’s failure to take proper action, this number has decreased to only 8.5 lakh. Similarly, more cards under the Ayushman Bharat Health Insurance Scheme have been issued in Haryana compared to Punjab. This is despite Haryana having a smaller population. This proves that the Punjab government is not delivering the benefits of central government schemes to the people. He strongly condemned the stopping of camps organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party. He stated that this government action is completely undemocratic and illegal.
The party will approach the High Court regarding this. Under any circumstances, the awareness camps organized to inform people will not stop. He said that the rights of the people will surely be delivered to them. The party will rest only after ensuring that the schemes worth crores of rupees reach the poor of Punjab. These schemes are provided by the central government.
