AUDIO CLIP, MINUTES RELEASED BY BHAGWANT MANN “RESOUNDING SELF GOAL, AND IRREFUTABLE PROOF OF AAP’S SURRENDER TO BJP ON FARMERS’ ACTS : HARSIMRAT BADAL
” HOW DOES ONE OPPOSE AN ACT MORE FORCEFULLY THAN BY RESIGNING IN PROTEST AGAINST IT?”
Chandigarh March 23 – Former union Minister and senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal today described Bhagwant Mann’s Press Conference and the release of audio clip and minutes of the Standing Committee proceedings as “ a resounding self-goal and an unequivocal admission” that Mann and his party did not oppose the controversial anti-farmer Bills in the said meeting or in the Parliament. “
“The masters of double speak have been caught in the act and themselves provided the most irrefutable proof of how meekly Bhagwant Mann and AAP surrendered to the BJP on the three Acts while publically pretending to oppose these. All this time, they had been hunting with the hound and running with the hare. But they have obviously over-reached the limits of their own cunning and unwittingly clinched the case against themselves,” said Ms Badal in a press release here this evening,
“That is how nature works against those who think they can befool all the people all the time” Badal added.
She said that in the entire audio and minutes released by Mann “there is not a single word of protest or opposition or rejection of the said Acts nor can he be heard voicing his own or his party’s protest” against the damage these would inflict on the farmers. “The only thing you can hear is Mann meekly and most obsequiously seeking mere clarifications on the implications of the Essential Commodities Act. He is virtually cringing before the Chairman while he pretends to roar in public to befool the masses, “Ms Badal said.
The Akali leader further said that she was glad that instead of her party producing the minutes and the audio clip of Mann’s and AAP’s meek surrender in that meeting, this had been done by the culprit himself. ”If we had done that, he would have habitually accused us of tampering with the audio or the minutes.”
Ridiculing Mann’s accusation that SAD and Badal secretly supported the Acts during the cabinet meeting, Badal said, “Does this guy even know what he is talking about? Where do you oppose a Bill except in the Parliament? And how do you oppose it and protest against it more loudly, more categorically and more effectively than by quitting the cabinet in protest against these Acts and rejecting the very draft which the cabinet had considered and approved? Does he need to be told why we broke the oldest political alliance in the country? asked former Union Minister who had resigned in protest against the government’s refusal to heed her opposition to the three farmers Acts. ” We are the only political party to have opposed the Acts officially, boldly, categorically and in full public view , instead of enacting dramas like staging walk outs but refusing to vote against the Act?
