
BJP Punjab Thanks PM Modi for Approving Semiconductor Facility Expansion in Mohali
Chandigarh, August 12: The Punjab unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today expressed its gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving the expansion of a discrete semiconductor manufacturing facility in Mohali, Punjab, said Ashwani Sharma, Working President of the BJP in Punjab here today in a press release.
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Modi, has approved four new semiconductor projects under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM). Among these, one project is located in Punjab.
Continental Device India Ltd. (CDIL) will undertake the expansion of its existing discrete semiconductor manufacturing facility in Mohali. The upgraded facility will produce high-power discrete semiconductor devices, including MOSFETs, IGBTs, Schottky Barrier Diodes, and transistors, using both Silicon and Silicon Carbide technologies. This brownfield expansion will have an annual production capacity of approximately 158.38 million units. The semiconductors manufactured at the facility will be used in various sectors such as automotive electronics. This includes electric vehicles and their charging infrastructure. They will also be used in renewable energy systems, power conversion, industrial applications, and communication infrastructure.
