CM Must Clarify If Land Acquisition Intent Still Stands: Ashwani Sharma

Chandigarh, August 12 “I am certain that the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab will acquire the land of Punjab’s farmers. They will do so through some other means or processes. They have only withdrawn the land pooling policy announced on May 14, 2025. “aap have not withdrawn their intention to acquire farmers’ land,” Ashwani Sharma said. He is the working State President of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Sharma was speaking to the media today after inducting new members into the party.

Sharma said that the Punjab AAP government did not withdraw the policy in the interest of farmers, but out of fear of the Punjab and Haryana High Court’s stay order. “The very points we were raising have been upheld by the High Court, which imposed a stay on the land pooling policy,” he said.

“A government officer’s order withdrew the policy. This was a policy that the Chief Minister and his ministers had announced after a cabinet meeting. This action clearly shows that in the coming days, the government will again acquire Punjab farmers’ land. If this is not true, then Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann should publicly declare this. He should assure that under no circumstances will the government re-acquire the thousands of acres of land. These lands are those they were attempting to seize through  pooling.”
