Vigilance Bureau arrests PSPCL employee for accepting Rs 10000 bribe
Chandigarh January 2, 2025 : The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) is conducting an ongoing campaign against corruption in the state. During this campaign, they apprehended Lineman Jagdish Singh. He worked at Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) Umarpura Sub Division, Batala, Gurdaspur district.He demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 10000.
Accused arrested on a complaint
An official spokesperson of the state VB disclosed this today. He mentioned that Gurvinder Singh, a resident of village Phoolke in tehsil Batala, lodged a complaint, leading to the arrest of the above-mentioned accused.He further informed that the complainant has approached the VB. The complainant stated that the accused lineman had intentionally installed power lines on his land at village Phoolka. They intended to extort money.The complainant alleged that the said lineman demanded an additional bribe of Rs 10,000. The lineman transferred these power lines a few days ago.
PSPCL : The accused Lineman caught red handed
The spokesperson added that after the preliminary enquiry of this complaint, the VB team laid a trap. During the operation, the police caught the accused red-handed.They were accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
VB Police Station has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
He registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act at VB Police Station. This is in Range Amritsar. The accused will be produced in the competent court tomorrow. Further investigations into this case are in progress, he said.
