Minister Applauds PGIMER’s Role in Op Sindoor

At the outset, the Minister commended PGIMER’s exemplary service during “Op Sindoor.” He highlighted the institute’s unwavering commitment to the nation. He praised PGIMER for its dedication and swift response. The institute sent five ambulances, each stocked with medical supplies and 218 units of blood. The Minister also lauded PGIMER for dispatching its multi-disciplinary team of doctors, nursing officers, and ambulance drivers. They hail from various parts of India. This exemplifies unity and a strong spirit of national service. During the session, the Minister emphasized the importance of shaping PGIMER’s future through the preparation of a comprehensive “Vision 2047” document. This strategic plan aims to position PGIMER as a global leader in medical education, research, and healthcare over the next two decades. The authorities entrusted the institute with developing strategies to enhance its academic programs, infrastructure, and community outreach efforts.

PGIMER Meeting : New Posts, Sarangpur DPR, and Technical Cadre Approved

The Minister directed the team to promptly prepare and submit a detailed project report (DPR) for the Sarangpur Project.This project envisions the development of a 100-bedded medical college, an Advanced Cancer Institute, a Trauma Centre, and outpatient departments (OPD). The initiative seeks to substantially expand PGIMER’s healthcare and training capacities in the region. To address the institute’s growing needs, the Institute Body sanctioned a total of 90 new posts. This includes 80 Senior Residents, 4 faculty members, and 6 demonstrators. The government also approved 637 positions—comprising 111 faculty and 526 non-faculty staff—to strengthen the Satellite Centre in Ferozepur. This approval ensures the centre’s full operational readiness. It also helps alleviate the patient load at PGIMER. The government achieved a historic milestone by approving the long-standing demand for a dedicated Technical Cadre. Officials expect the implementation of a six-tier cadre structure to streamline technical support. It will improve operational efficiency. This change will enhance overall institute functioning. The meeting concluded on an optimistic note, with the Hon’ble Minister expressing satisfaction with PGIMER’s progress and future plans. He reaffirmed the government’s unwavering support for the institute’s mission of excellence in medical education, research, and healthcare. PGIMER remains committed to advancing medical sciences.
