CEO Sibin C : Punjab fully prepared for Bye-elections

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Punjab, Sibin C, announced that the state has completed all preparations for the bye-elections for the four Punjab Assembly seats to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections.

CEO Sibin C shared that authorities have deployed 6,481 Punjab Police personnel and officials, along with 17 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), to ensure safe and peaceful elections. Additionally, 3,868 polling staff members have been assigned to manage the polling process smoothly.

Dera Baba Nanak constituency has 193,376 voters

The CEO stated that 193,376 voters reside in the 10-Dera Baba Nanak constituency, which has a total of 241 polling stations, including 61 critical ones. Authorities have deployed 701 polling staff members. So far, officials have received 19 complaints about election code violations and resolved 17 of them. During this time, authorities have seized ₹25.40 crore following the Election Commission’s guidelines. The counting of votes for the 10-Dera Baba Nanak constituency will take place in 18 rounds on November 23rd at Sukhjinder Group of Institutes, Engineering Wing, Hardochhanni Road, Gurdaspur.

CEO : Chabbewal (SC) constituency has 159,432 voters

The 44-Chabbewal (SC) constituency comprises 159,432 voters, with 205 polling stations, including 50 critical ones. Authorities have deployed 1,044 staff members here. They have received 35 complaints about violations of the election code and resolved 30 of them. During this period, the district administration seized ₹60,000. The vote counting for 44-Chabbewal (SC) will take place in 15 rounds at Rayat & Bahra Group of Institutes, Chandigarh Road, Hoshiarpur.

CEO :Gidderbaha has 166,731 voters, with 173 polling stations

Furthermore, 84-Gidderbaha has 166,731 voters, with 173 polling stations, of which 96 are critical and a total of 1,148 staff members are working here. During the moral code of conduct, officials received 24 complaints related to election code violations, resolved 11 of them, and seized ₹4.70 lakh. They will conduct the vote counting for 84-Gidderbaha in 13 rounds at Government Senior Secondary School (Boys), Bharu Road, Gidderbaha.

Barnala constituency has 177,426 voters, and 212 polling stations

The 103-Barnala constituency includes 177,426 voters and 212 polling stations, with 37 identified as critical. Authorities have deployed 975 polling staff. Since implementing the moral code of conduct, officials have received seven complaints about violations, resolved five of them, and seized a total of ₹55.50 lakh. The counting of votes for 103-Barnala will take place in 16 rounds at S.D. College of Education, Barnala.

CCTV cameras will monitor all polling stations.

Sibin C further stated, “We will monitor all polling stations through CCTV cameras. Furthermore, to ensure real-time monitoring, we will provide 100% live webcasting for all polling stations, as instructed by the Election Commission of India.”

The Chief Electoral Officer also added, “In addition, we have made adequate arrangements for food, accommodation, and protection from the cold for the polling staff at the stations. Moreover, we have ensured the availability of drinking water, waiting areas, toilets, and other necessary facilities for voters at polling stations.”

The authorities have scheduled the polling for November 20th.

Sibin C stated, “The authorities will conduct the polling on November 20th (Wednesday) from 7 AM to 6 PM, and they will count the votes on November 23rd (Saturday).” He appealed to all voters in the four constituencies to exercise their right to vote without any fear and inducement.
