CM’s Major Push for Municipal Town Development
New Delhi/ Chandigarh, October 28: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday held meeting with his Delhi counterpart for giving a facelift to the corporation cities of the state. The state government held a meeting with the Commissioners of all the Municipal corporations to boost urban development under the knowledge-sharing agreement with the Delhi government.
CM: Meeting Aims to Boost Development
Giving the details, the Chief Minister said that the basic purpose of the meeting is to give impetus to the ongoing development in the Municipal towns of the state. Likewise, he said that the motive is also to ensure that the residents of city get ultra modern civic amenities on lines of Delhi. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government is working zealously on this noble cause and leaving no stone upturned.
Municipal Town : Delhi has set a new benchmark
The Chief Minister said the AAP government in Delhi has set a new benchmark in delivery of citizen centric services to people besides ensuring comprehensive development of the cities. He stated that the Punjab government intends to undertake massive development in the cities along these lines, utilising the expertise of the Delhi government.
Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it is on record that AAP government under the visionary leadership of Arvind Kejriwal had performed exceptionally well in the sector of urban development and planning.
Punjab is likely to immensely benefit from it.
The Chief Minister stated that, since the Delhi model has emerged as a lighthouse for the entire country in urban development, Punjab is likely to benefit immensely from it. Furthermore, this model not only offers valuable insights but also provides strategies that can be effectively adapted to enhance urban infrastructure and services in the state. Additionally, leveraging this model could lead to innovative solutions that address the unique challenges faced by Punjab’s cities.
He emphasised that the cleanliness of cities, supply of potable drinking water, and street lights, along with the holistic development of cities, represent the main thrust areas for the state government. Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that every action of the state government aims to ensure the well-being of the common man and improve their standard of living by providing them with ultra-modern civic amenities.
CM announced the decision to utilise artificial intelligence
The Chief Minister announced the decision to utilise artificial intelligence to assess road conditions, including potholes, broken patches, and cracks, ensuring timely repairs. He also stated that AI would help identify dark spots and facilitate the installation of lights on all city roads. Bhagwant Singh Mann mentioned the plan to deploy technological platforms that will send real-time alerts to officials, ensuring streetlight repairs within a maximum of three hours.
