Punjab Police Prevent Three Target Killings, Arrest Five

CHANDIGARH/JALANDHAR, October 20:  ( Mohit Sharma ) : Amidst the ongoing drive to eradicate organised crime from the state as per directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has thwarted three possible target killings with the arrest of five key operatives of the Bambiha-Kaushal gang, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Sunday.

Authorities identified those arrested as Jaspreet Singh alias Jassa from village Boparai Kalan in Jalandhar, Harshdeep Singh from village Garage Mehdood in Hoshiarpur, Shekhar from village Muradpur in Tarn Taran, Gagandeep Singh alias Ginni Bajwa from New Model House in Jalandhar, and Amit Sahota from village Bambian Wal in Jalandhar.Police teams have also recovered nine weapons— including eight pistols and one revolver— along with 15 live cartridges from their possession.

DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that the arrested individuals committed multiple serious offenses, including extortion, murder, and arms trafficking across several districts of Punjab. He added that authorities have already registered several cases against them.

Target Killings : Investigations Ongoing to Uncover Gang Network

The DGP said that further investigations are going on to uncover their broader network and establish both backward and forward linkages to dismantle the gang completely.

Sharing operation details, Commissioner of Police (CP) Jalandhar Swapan Sharma said following reliable inputs that members of Bambiha-Kaushal gang are planning a major criminal activity in the state, police teams have laid a naka at BSF Chowk and arrested three accused persons including Jaspreet Jassa, Harshdeep and Shekhar after recovering six weapons from their possession.

Gang identified as Gagandeep Ginni and Amit Sahota

He reported that police later arrested two more operatives of the gang, identified as Gagandeep Ginni and Amit Sahota, from a Naka near Bhargo Camp, recovering three weapons from their possession. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities expect more arrests.

In this regard, police registered two separate cases: FIR No. 253 under section 25 of the Arms Act at the Police Station New Baradari in Jalandhar and FIR No. 100 under section 25 of the Arms Act at the Police Station Bhargo Camp in Jalandhar.
