CM hands over Rs 1 crore insurance cheque to family of martyred Jawan Jaspal Singh

REITERATES COMMITMENT OF STATE GOVERNMENT TO ENSURE WELL BEING OF FAMILIES OF MARTYRS

Chandigarh, August 3 Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday gave cheque worth Rs 1 crore as insurance cover  to the family of martyred  Home Guard Jawan Jaspal Singh who had laid down his life in line of duty.

The Chief Minister expressed solidarity with martyred Jaspal Singh’s family and handed them the cheque, stating the state government’s commitment to their welfare. He also mentioned that they have already recruited the martyr’s son into the police force as a constable.

Jaspal Singh died while performing his duty at Sultanpur Lodhi. The state government, through HDFC Bank, provided the ₹1 crore insurance cover, in addition to the ₹1 crore financial assistance already given to the family.

Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this initiative is in recognition of the immense contribution of this son of soil towards maintaining law and order in the state.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said that financial assistance to family of Jaspal Singh is in consonance with the commitment of the state government to ensure the well being of the soldiers (from Armed forces, paramilitary and Police) and their families.

Bhagwant Singh Mann hoped that this humble initiative by the state will go a long way in helping the aggrieved family on one hand and securing their future on the other.

He reiterated the firm commitment of the state government to recognise the immense contribution of these valiant sons of soil for safeguarding the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country.
