Vigilance Bureau arrests Superintendent Engineer for demanding 10 percent commission from contractor
Chandigarh, April 14, 2025 – The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) is currently conducting a campaign against corruption. On Monday, they arrested Superintendent Engineer (SE) Sanjay Kanwar. They posted him at Municipal Corporation Ludhiana for demanding a commission from a contractor.
A contractor from Ludhiana lodged a complaint
An official spokesperson of the state VB disclosed this today. “A contractor from Ludhiana lodged a complaint, following which the authorities made the arrest, they said.”
He further added that the complainant has approached the VB. The complainant alleged that he had applied for a tender. The tender was for the redevelopment project at Nehru Rose Garden, Civil Lines, Ludhiana. The accused Superintendent Engineer demanded a 10 percent commission. He wanted this bribe in return for allotting the tender work to him. This conversation was recorded by the complainant and submitted to the VB as an evidence.
The spokesperson said that the authorities registered a case after they preliminarily verified the complaint. They did this under the Prevention of Corruption Act.This case is against the aforementioned SE Sanjay Kanwar at the VB Police Station, Ludhiana Range. “Police have arrested Sanjay Kanwar. They will produce the accused before the competent court tomorrow, and they are conducting further investigation, he said.”
