VB NABS GLADA FIELD OFFICER ZORA SINGH FOR TAKING RS 4,000
Chandigarh March 7: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state on Wednesday arrested Zora Singh, posted as Field Officer, Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) for accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000.
“An official spokesperson of the state VB disclosed today that they have arrested the above-mentioned accused based on a complaint filed by Amit Rai, a resident of Ishar Nagar, Ludhiana, who practices law in the district courts of Ludhiana.”
He further added that the complaint approached the VB and informed that the said accused has been demanding a bribe of Rs 4,000 to allow him to complete his under construction two houses with lintel in Shiv Vihar, village Jaspal Bangar, Ludhiana. The accused official allegedly threatened the complainant, stating that he would not permit the placement of the lintel unless the complainant paid bribe money for both houses. He informed the complainant that he would share the bribe money with other GLADA officers.
After conducting a preliminary investigation of the complaint, a VB team from Ludhiana range set a trap and apprehended the accused red-handed in the presence of two official witnesses while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 from the complainant. In this regard, PS VB Range Ludhiana has registered a case under section 7, 7A of Prevention of Corruption Act. The authorities will produce the accused in the competent court tomorrow. “We are further investigating this case, and we will examine the roles of other GLADA officials.”
