Show Keen Interest in Administrative works during exposure visit to District Administrative Complex
Schools of Eminence Students Were Anxious About their Career Oriented Visit

To broaden the students’ horizons and provide them with a hands-on understanding of various professional fields, career counseling, and help students build their pathways to achieve their goals, an exposure visit was organized for the Class Eleventh Students of School of Eminence from 3B1 at the District Administrative Complex, Mohali, today.
The students, while interacting with Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain, were keen to learn about her journey to civil services, in addition to managing family matters and official responsibilities.
Deputy Commissioner, while addressing the students’ anxieties, emphasized the importance of having a life goal. She shared her own journey, revealing that she started aspiring for civil services during her eighth-grade studies. Despite receiving a job offer from a law firm with an annual package of Rs 20 lakh after completing her LLB, she chose to pursue her aspiration of joining UPSC and successfully cracked the examination.
She encouraged the students to set goals, follow them passionately, and advised them to create a timetable for effective study, emphasizing the benefits of early morning study sessions.
In response to the students’ queries about managing family and official responsibilities as the district administrative head, she highlighted the importance of balancing both roles, including those of a mother, wife, daughter, and Deputy Commissioner.
Deputy Commissioner explained the duties of District Administrative Officers, stating that they handle regulatory powers and welfare services such as maintaining law and order, ensuring health and educational services, and managing infrastructure like roads.
During interactions with ADC (Rural Development) Sonam Chaudhary and Assistant Commissioner (Under Trainee) Davy Goyal, the students posed questions and showed keen interest in their respective career paths. ADC (Rural Development) explained the administrative setup, including the roles of Sub Divisional Magistrates at the Sub Division Level and Additional Deputy Commissioners at the District Level under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner.

The students visited the SEWA Kendra, where they learned about Citizen-Oriented Services Delivery and home delivery of 43 services under the ‘Bhagwant Mann Sarkar Tuhade Dwar’ initiative by dialing 1076.
They also toured the SDM Office, ADC Rural Development, and General Offices, gaining insights into the workings of these administrative offices.
Angrej Singh, Deputy District Education Officer leading the students in this endeavor, mentioned that as per the directions of Punjab Education Minister S. Harjot Singh Bains, the Department of School Education is spearheading a series of exposure visits for students from Schools of Eminence (SoE). As part of this initiative, students have visited DAC Mohali, Dr. BR Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences, Mohali, Maharaja Ranjit Institute for the Preparation of Armed Forces Mohali, IISER Mohali (Indian Institute of Science, Technology, and Research), etc., during the exposure visit.
