CM announces a twofold increase in honorarium for Mayors, Chairpersons, and Members of Municipal Corporations, Councils, and Committees
Pension for Hindi Movement Freedom Fighters and Emergency Victims increased from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000
Chandigarh, October 26 – As Manohar Sarkar today marked its 9th successful tenure anniversary, the Haryana Chief Minister announced a significant increase in honorarium for members of Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils, and Committees as a significant gift on the occasion of the Diwali festival. He said that the increased honorarium will be applicable with effect from October 1, 2023.
While addressing a press conference here today, he further announced that the pension for Hindi Movement Satyagrahis and emergency victims has been increased from Rs. 10,000 to Rs.15, 000. The Chief Minister also announced a 4 percent increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees as a Diwali gift. The Education Minister, Sh. Kanwar Pal also remained present on this occasion.
Sh. Manohar Lal shared that a meeting was held with Mayors, Senior Deputy Mayors, Deputy Mayors, Councilors, and Chairpersons of Municipal Councils to discuss various issues, including the increase in honorarium.
He said that earlier, Mayors received a monthly honorarium of Rs. 20,500, which has now been increased to Rs. 30,000. Similarly, the Senior Deputy Mayor’s honorarium has been increased from Rs. 16,500 to Rs. 25,000, while the Deputy Mayor’s honorarium has been increased from Rs. 13,000 to Rs. 20,000, and an honorarium of councillors has been increased from Rs. 10,500 to Rs. 15,000.
The honorarium of President, Municipal Council has been increased from Rs. 10,500 to Rs. 18,000. Now the Vice-President and Councilors will get an increased honorarium of Rs. 12,000 respectively in place of Rs. 7,500.
The Chief Minister announced that the honorarium of President, Municipal Committee has been raised from Rs. 6,500 to Rs. 10,000, while the honorarium of vice-President has increased from Rs. 4,500 to Rs. 8,000 and Councilors from Rs. 4,500 to Rs. 8,000.
Meanwhile, the honorarium for Chairperson, Zila Parishad has been increased from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 20,000, Vice-President from Rs. 7,500 to Rs. 15,000, and Members from Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 6,000. Besides this, the honorarium for Chairperson, Panchayat Samiti has been increased from Rs. 7,500 to Rs. 15,000, Vice-Chiarperson from Rs. 3,500 to Rs. 7,000, and Members from Rs. 1,600 to Rs. 3,000.
The Chief Minister further announced an increase in the pension for Hindi Movement Satyagrahis and emergency victims from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000. He said that the state government is now providing a monthly pension of Rs. 10,000 to those who participated in the Hindi Movement of 1957, emergency victims, and widows. This amount has now been increased to Rs. 15,000.
Furthermore, he shared that from today onwards 42,431 new PPP verified beneficiaries will receive the old age pension benefit. This automated pension system has made it easier for people to avail of government benefits without having to visit government offices, said Sh. Manohar Lal.
Lastly, giving pre Diwali bonanza to the government employees, the Chief Minister announced a 4 percent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA). He said that the Central Government had increased the DA for government employees from 42 percent to 46 percent. Starting from July 1, 2023, nearly 3.5 lakh employees in Haryana will receive an additional 4 percent DA.
