Trials for the selection of players in wings of sports Department from May 22

The Sports Department, Punjab has decided to conduct trials during the session 2023-24 for the admission of players in Sports Wing (Residential), Sports Wing School (Residential/Day-Scholar) and State School of Sports, Jalandhar from 22nd to 25th May 2023.
The spokesperson of the sports department said that under the trials of the Sports Wing (Residential), the State School of Sports, Jalandhar would conduct trials for Athletics, Wrestling, Gymnastics, Boxing, Swimming, Football and Volleyball (age group 17 and 19 boys) on May 22 and 23 at Sports School, Jalandhar and Lajwanti Outdoor Stadium, Hoshiarpur. Trials for Basketball, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Boxing, Judo, Athletics and Swimming (age group 14 and 17 girls) will be held at Lajwanti Stadium, Hoshiarpur on May 24 and 25.
The spokesperson further informed that trials will be held on 24th and 25th May in Under 14, 17 and 19 of all districts to establish sports wing schools (Boys and Girls) (Residential/Day Scholars) in various districts.
Divulging the details in this regard, the spokesperson said that trials for Volleyball, Judo, Swimming, Football, Athletics, Boxing, Handball, Kabaddi and Wrestling in Amritsar will be held at Guru Nanak Stadium Amritsar, Similarly trials for Basketball, Wrestling, Athletics, Gymnastics, Hockey, Boxing, Football, Volleyball, Judo, Kabaddi, Cycling and Powerlifting at Sports Stadium Bathinda.
Trial for Athletics, Table Tennis, Weightlifting, Kick Boxing and Kabaddi at Sports Stadium Barnala, trials for Volleyball, Wrestling, Handball, Kabaddi, Hockey, Shooting, Swimming and Basketball at Nehru Stadium Faridkot, in Fazilka for Handball, Wrestling, Archery, Badminton trials at Sports Stadium Jalalabad, in Ferozepur for Kabaddi, Handball, Swimming, Wrestling, Kickboxing, Hockey and Basketball at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium Ferozepur, in Fatehgarh Sahib, trials for Athletics, Basketball, Football, Handball, Hockey, Wrestling, Volleyball, Kho Kho, Kabaddi, Fencing and Boxing at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, Engineering College, Sports Stadium Fatehgarh Sahib, in Gurdaspur, trails for Judo, Hockey, Football, Athletics, Gymnastics,Weightlifting, Wrestling and Badminton at Sports Stadium Gurdaspur, in Hoshiarpur, trials for Weightlifting, Volleyball, Snatch, Athletics, Basketball, Boxing, Football, Judo, Wrestling, Hockey, Handball and Swimming at Outdoor Stadium Hoshiarpur, in Jalandhar, trials for Hockey, Volleyball, Basketball, Handball, Swimming, Football, Gymnastics, Volleyball, Wrestling, Athletics, Football, Judo, Boxing and Table Tennis will be held at State School of Sports, Hans Raj Stadium and Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium, Jalandhar.
Similarly, in Kapurthala, trials for Football, Basketball, Athletics, Kabaddi, Wrestling and Boxing will be held at Guru Nanak Stadium Kapurthala, in Sri Muktsar Sahib, trials for Boxing, Hockey, Gymnastics, Basketball, Wrestling, Kho-Kho and Handball in Sports Stadium Sri Muktsar Sahib, in Mansa, trials for Athletics, Football, Judo, Wrestling and Handball at Nehru Stadium Mansa, in Moga trials for Football, Kabaddi and Athletics at Guru Nanak College Moga, in Malerkotla, trials for Boxing, Football, Judo, Cricket, Hockey, Volleyball and Badminton at Dr. Zakir Hussain Stadium Malerkotla, in Ludhiana, trials for Athletics, Boxing, Cycling, Football, Gymnastics, Hockey, Handball, Judo, Powerlifting, Softball, Volleyball, Weight Lifting, Wrestling, Shooting and Kho-Kho will be held at Guru Nanak Stadium, Hockey Stadium, PAU and Cycling Velodrome, PAU, Ludhiana.

Nagar, trials for Athletics, Badminton, Swimming, Handball, Football and Volleyball in Multipurpose Sports Stadium, Sector-78, SAS Nagar, in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, trials for Athletics, Kabaddi, Football, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Badminton Handball, Volleyball, Judo and Kabaddi at ITI Sports Stadium Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, in Patiala, trials for Athletics, Table Tennis, Weightlifting, Gymnastics, Football, Kabaddi, Basketball, Hockey, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Boxing, Judo, Handball, Swimming, Wrestling and Badminton at Raja Bhalindra Sports Complex (Polo Ground) Patiala, in Pathankot, trials for Athletics, Wrestling, Football, Swimming and Handball at Multipurpose Sports Stadium Pathankot, in Rupnagar trials for Basketball, Badminton, Boxing, Football, Hockey, Kayaking, Canoeing, Kabaddi and Wrestling at Nehru Stadium Rupnagar, in Sangrur trials for Athletics, Basketball, Boxing, Badminton, Football, Handball, Hockey, Gymnastics, KickBoxing, Kho-Kho, Roller Skating, Volleyball and Weight Lifting at War Heroes Stadium Sangrur and trials for Athletics, Boxing, Fencing, Football, Wrestling, Kabaddi, Judo and Hockey in Tarn Taran will be held at Sports Stadium Tarn Taran.
Giving information about the eligibility of the players for admission said that for U-14 players born on 1-1-2010, for U-17 those born on 1-1-2007 and for U-19 those born on or after 1-1-2005 can participate. For Sports School Jalandhar, the athlete should have secured any position in district level/state level competition or participated at the national level.
For Sports Wings to be established in different districts, the sportsperson should have secured one of the first three positions in the district level competition or participated in the state level competition. Apart from this, new players can also be considered on a trial basis. Athletes from all districts can participate in the trials of State Sports School, Jalandhar. In the trials of the sports wings to be established in the districts, the players will participate in the trials taking place in their respective districts. Eligible players should report to the respective District Sports Officers for registration at the trial venue on the respective day at 8:00 AM. Players should bring their original certificates of birth, Aadhaar card and sporting achievements and their copies along with two recent passport size photographs.
